SCOTT Savol, who seems to be the most unlikely finalist on "American Idol" this season, just keeps hanging on.
And viewers are beginning to wonder exactly how Savol, the pudgy kid from Shaker Heights, Ohio, is managing to pull it off, while fan favorites like Constantine Maroulis get the boot, as he did Wednesday night.
Some point to the efforts of a Web site called votefortheworst.com, which considers "Idol" a joke and encourages viewers to cast their votes for Savol because, it says, "he is the worst."
"I think our site definitely has some effect on the results for 'Idol,' " says Dave DellaTerza, the site's creator.
"I always used to say it's just like any 12-year-old girl power-voting for [Idol wannabe] Carrie [Underwood]," he says.
That girl "thinks her results affect the show, too, when they just help to contribute. But I've changed my tune a bit since our Web site got over 100,000 hits in the last two days. Now I'm hearing from people who throw 'vote for the worst' parties, who get office pools together to vote for Scott . . . This has definitely turned into something huge, which I hope will continue."
It was a shock Wednesday when Maroulis, who had never before come even thisclose to getting tossed from the show, was voted out. But the native New Yorker took it in stride.

"Vonzell has the looks and can sing. "
You musta missed it wednesday nite then.
The group sang a song, taking turns at the 'lead' and when it came time for Vonzell to sing, she was so far off pitch I thought she was singing a different song.
I only watch on Tuesday. I then tune in for the last few minutes to see who gets booted.
Her song the last few weeks were great. I think Carrie Underwood, however, is going to win this one.
How cynical of them to screw up the process and the efforts of the contestants. So if they get their way Scott would win but even if that happens he'll NEVER be an American idol.
Understatement
Bo is the best thing to EVER happen to American Idol. He is dreamy.
I like the fact that on Nashville Star you have to write your own music as well. On originals week and you have to perform your own song.
Agreed - what he did to the Nickleback song was down right criminal! Was glad to see him go.
Someone posted that Scott was 1/2 black? Both his parents are white. His child is 1/2 black - but, who cares? IMO, he has a decent voice, just should drop the "homeboy" schtick...
I'd like to see Carrie and Bo as the last two..
Who's propping him up?
Answer: Very ignorant and stupid young people.
odds will change....
A white boy trying to be black. Yeah, we've never seen that before. So annoying.
I don't watch the show, but I did catch the results show Wednesday night, or at least the results of the results show. They guy that got removed looks like a gay Jim Morrison wannabe. I didn't say he is, I said he looks like.
In the closing though, he seemed like a decent chap and I know a lot less talented people have gone a lot farther in showbiz, so he will probably be a marginal star someday soon.
"And I actually like Scott. Hes edgier and funkier than all the other contestants. Hes the only one who you wouldnt expect to be singing on a cruise or in the band at your parents fiftieth wedding anniversary. Hes dark, like a singing serial killer or something. Im happy every week he makes the cut."
Scott brings some much needed edge to this show and he can sing. He turned his life around with the help of his church and maybe that's considered a strike against him in Hollyweird. But Scott could reach kids who identify with being a less than perfect human being struggling to do the right thing.
Carrie usually dresses for the Lawrence Welk show but when the producers try to tart her up she looks miserable. Good for her but they can't turn her into a pop princess. No offense to Vonzell but she looks and moves like a pre-op drag queen. The rest I can't remember.
Dream A Little Dream Of Me
The Bo Bice drug charge is likely being dropped now by American Idol insiders. Bo is really carries only competition, I think the producers want Carrie to win now.
Who's never been in the bottom three?
Carrie of course!
Honestly, his last performance wasn't that bad and the judges were overly harsh. Simon, "Pack your bags after that".
My husband and I looked at each other and said that the judges just insured Scott would be in another week. I think that perhaps it p!ssed off some people and they voted for him out of spite.
Just a thought.
"At least now it makes sense why the talented ones are getting voted off and the ones that should be gone aren't"
They all should be voted off, there's not nickel's worth of talent in the whole group.

LOL! EXACTLY!
