I had to read your FR page before I could understand the attempted sarcasm. You know some history, but do you know the history of Pope Benedict XV, that Pope whose name Ratzinger deliberately choose and what that implies?
And you shouldn't be so ham-handed in statements like this:
And, not being a Catholic myself, this Pope has got me so excited I can also see any union could be possible, between Catholic and Protestant, between Catholic and Mormon (by God, I could even see a Mormon President of the United States before this is over and by God I will welcome it --- why not? Mormonism is quintessentialy American and an American religion ... I believe it is time for a Mormon Presidnet) --- and even a union between Catholic and Conservatives everywhere. Who knows? . . . if the magic really rolls, by God there could even be a union between Catholic and the (reborn with a change of heart) Ku Klux Klan (the reformed branch).
Yes, if "the magic really rolls" we can forge a union between Catholics and born-again KKKers under a Mormon presidency, and all that other nonsense.
Remember, when trying to make a point with satire, don't apply the satire like cement with a trowel. It doesn't work.
