I actually think the prank is funny, and it's not like Paris didn't know her boyfriend was taping her.
Yes, she knew he was taping her; but I doubt she expected him to sell it to the public at large. And I also doubt she expected her 'friend', Richie, to humilate her like that at a party. Paris isn't a talent, she has paid a pretty steep price for trusting the wrong 'boyfriend'; but I think she expected a bare minimum of respect from her girl 'friend'. This act was a pretty major betrayal of the trust one has with a friend.
Consider, Paris has made Richie fairly wealthy, just by association. To have her publically humilate her says more about Richie's character than anything else. Do you think anyone would know about Richie if not for Paris? Do you think Richie would ever have had the opportunities she got, if not for Paris? But, more importantly, would you want a 'friend' like that?
