My best friend who lives in Pittsburgh says dogfighting is a serious problem there. In fact, she has a house behind hers which has dogfights all the time, at all hours of the day and night. I stayed over at her place one night -- I could hear the screams and cries of the "losing" dogs. Also, these dogfighters use cats and other animals to help "train" the dogs, and you can hear their agonizing cries. It's disgusting.

A year or so ago, my friend and some of her neighbors were successful in having the local police raid the house. The perpetrators were arrested and everything was quiet for a while. Now, my friend says they're back...or some other dogfighters have taken over. The first time around it took my friend and her neighbors years to get the city to do anything about the dogfights. More than likely, the officials and police were being bribed to stay away.

Those who engage in any aspect of dogfighting ought to be tied up in a locked room and then have some vicious dogs bite chunks out of their flesh. These people are among the lowest of the low.
