The Hobbit Hole XXI - ...Towards the Moon or to the Sun.

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

...Towards the Moon or to the Sun.

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Good morning!

I'm just getting up...and there's a large rainbow colored hot-air balloon right outside my bedroom window...though a bit higher, of course. Dunno why.

Or it WAS there. Appears to have wandered off now.

Naw, you didn't miss anything...just the same ol' hobbit conversations concerning food and drink.

I love hot air balloons...to look at them. One of the nicest dates I ever went on with Steve was a hot air balloon festival. We took a picnic basket with strawberries and champagne and a blanket and just sat and watched them take off. This was in Austin, Texas...of course.

My MIL dreamed of going up in one and finally did for her birthday a couple of years back or so...I have no such inclination. No thank you ma'am.

Appears to have wandered off now.

Wherever it went, it couldn't have gone very fast... Nor can it really hide...

Assuming it was actually there, of course, and you're not just seein' things ;~D

OH! I forgot! Sam's back from his daughter's graduation. He has pics but hasn't posted them yet. Some "Goodall" person spoke at the commencement...

Ah... That would be Jane Goodall...

She's got to be getting 'up there'.

Good morning everyone!

24 was really great last night, wasn't it? (For those who watched).

Other than that, I am really looking forward to the Narnia film this December. It looks fantastic!

I have a mixed review... I thought the missile story went out with a fizzle... After all that build up, I thought they rushed to close that out.

And I don't think the Chinese would have, or could have, pulled a stunt like kidnapping one of our agents in another city, within what, 4 hours, of the original incident at the consulate.

Some of the technology and knowledge they seem to have instantly at their fingertips is just not feasible. ;~D

But Jack was good... and Palmer was great... and Pres Logan needs to be slapped till he cries.... which won't take much I'm sure.

But I enjoyed the season. We started late, you know, and haven't seen the other seasons. They'd be good to rent now so we can get some of the back story.

We had to watch it late as Clare and I helped out at a Girl Scout Bridging ceremony last night. Joseph DVR'd it for us and we finally got around to watching the second half around midnight! It was SO good! I love the tagline for the previews of the next season, "You don't know Jack!"

It's ok...it just starte h flashing.

It's a migraine. I'm fixin' to be in agony. Had this happen one time before.

Kinda freaked me out.

Steve is aware, but it started flashing while I was talaking to him.

The vision is back, but it looks like I'm typing through rippling water! Just like before.

I'm alright...just a bit nauseated and freaking out!

Woks are nice because there is just so much room to move the food around for even cooking. Recipes say you can move the meat up to the side of the wok while you're cooking the veggies, etc, but I've never had success with that. I just move the meat to another dish, cook the veggies, then add the meat back. You have to have strong wrists if you want to handle one of the carbon steel woks single handed! Those suckers are heavy. Not as bad as a cast iron skillet, though. ;o)
