The Hobbit Hole XXI - ...Towards the Moon or to the Sun.

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

...Towards the Moon or to the Sun.

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Grandpa made wine... I remember the jugs in the basement.

Heh!

I wonder if you could ask a restaurant for some of their old wine bottles? I mean, people don't likely swig out of them and you could sterilize them....

Wine is something you can also just make in a big container, if'n I remember right - doesn't have to be bottled.

Dad just washes his beer bottles with a bleach solution, I believe, to sterilize them.

It's gonna be a brutal summer, that's for sure.

And with temps this high, hurricanes are gonna love this part of the world. :P

80 degrees are for mid-day, IMHO.

It's just nasty hot.

Supposed to be 76 here today.

Least it's the kinda climate where there are hugh differences between day and night temps. Down in the forties at night.

I dunno if I could live somewhere where the heat didn't go away at night!

I guess you get acclimated to it after a while, but it's never a truly happy acceptance.

Fall and winter is nice here, when temps average in the 60s and 70s - but the summers have 80s, 90s and up. Add the humidity to that, and it can feel like you're stuck in a sauna.

It's yucky, but that's what I get for living in a swamp. :-D

That's not right. Move somewhere civilized, where the cool breezes are something less than 85 degrees.

Morning. Don't feel so painful today but we'll see how I feel by lunchtime.
