I know. that was the standard excuse I heard from all the whiney graphic arts majors who were broke and always asked me to find the latest version of PhotoShop for me off of P2P systems, since they were too busy being artists, after all.
Most of the NLE programs that try to compete with Premiere are essentially the same program with slightly different interfaces. They're almost all a clone of Premiere, to varying degrees. Learn one you've learned them all. iFinish, studio, vegas, premiere, avid, they're all the same to me.

as a user of products from both companies i agree with both conclusions.
I am a Freehand user since Aldus Freehand 1.0. I have used it heavily for line illustration, logo design, web layout design, poster and brochure design and everything else. I have always preferred it over Illustrator. I am curious to see what is in store for me with this change.

According to many tech writers I've talked to recently, RoboHelp is dead. Macromedia got rid of all the developers, and the product manager left. Macromedia didn't bother to show up at their booth at the recent WinWriter/WriterUA conference.
Many writers had already switched from RH to either Author-It or WebWorks Publisher, neither of which is an Adobe or Multimedia product.
(Some of the former RH/eHelp/BlueSky folks have formed a new company, www.madcapsoftware.com, to develop an XML-based authoring tool.)
I agree. I don't like most of adobe's products, and the ones I do like are terribly overpriced.
What concerns me most about this is Fireworks, a great graphics program that I use for logos and image editing. Probably not as much raw imaging power as PS, but a hell of a lot easier to use. Does this great program evaporate?
If it does, I won't be purchasing anything adobe.
I agree about Fireworks. PS is THE garphics program for hardcore graphic artists, but for everyday web graphics, Fireworks is so fast and so easy, I'd hate to lose it.
