I have not given up on my dream for laminate. I have 7 birds. Birds & rugs don't mix!
I would say the drive would be a bit of an adventure!!!
My windows are actually fairly low to the ground.......but they all have triple panes up top.
We want to start replacing them this summer but it is going to be a slow process because all 16 of them are very large and thus replacements are going to be VERY expensive. There are 6 in the family room alone.
They'll get washed eventually, because I'm going to have to get out there and start scraping them to paint them.........after we redo the roof we are going to start on siding. Hubby swears to me putting up the siding is going to be a piece of cake compared to doing the roof.
I've got a huge bag to go to the Food Bank. When we lived in Dover I gave all Jax outgrown stuff to a friend with a daughter 18 months younger than Jax. Now, none of my friends have any younger than Jax and of all the kids I know her age - she's the littlest and so some of my friends have given me their kids' outgrown stuff!!!!
That's really sad. When is she moving out?
Sorry, couldn't resist the urge to be flip. Hope everything works out for you and your family.
I'm not familiar with Dyson's. I have been wanting to get a Rainbow for years. My mom had one. Best damn vacuum I have ever used. The run up to $2,000 but I'm not kidding--worth every penny. When we were growing up we used to fight over whose turn it was to vacuum.
I don't know what I'm supposed to do with the raspberry bush we planted last year..........one thing is for certain - it sure doesn't look like a bush - but it's in far better shape than the blueberry and blackberry ones we put in at the same time.
We did put in a "Fruit Cocktail" tree last week. Supposedly it bears nectarines, apricots, pears and plums - we shall see.
I went with the name because my daughter lived there--until recently when she moved in to return to her original "nest".
Unfortunately I believe you are correct!
yikes 2 grand!
Here's muh "spring cleaning" tips:
When it's spring cleaning time, I usually dip them in a can of gasoline, taking care not to create sparks and start a fire.
Paint thinner works ok if the springs aren't too greasy.
Very large springs I take to the local car wash, while cotton ear swabs are perfect for cleaning very small springs....
Thank you.
You've got a great attitude regarding your daughter and Mother's Day, in spite of the news of your separation. Hold on to it and good luck.
We did our taxes in February, have the money but have earmarked most of it for a new septic system. The old one is 30 years old and is definitely dying!
Spring cleaning....let me tell ya'll! It never gets finished around here. My boys are the messiest kids on the face of the earth and my house definitely shows it!
I started out by painting my home office last month. I figure if I have to sit there 8 to 10 hours a day and pound a keyboard, I should at least have something nice to look at. I painted it a pretty yellow with white trim and bought myself a new white antique-looking computer desk with a hutch from Target. I've purged a lot of the junk from the office, too, and have bought some beautiful floral material to make a topper for the window and a cover for my ancient file cabinet.
I've been busy in the rest of the house, too. We had a horrible couch and chair in the family room that no one could stand to sit in because they were so uncomfortable and worn out. I hauled them off to the dump and the room feels so much lighter and useful without them. I'm making half of it into a dining room so I'll have a place to put my antique dining table and buffet. The rest is taken up by the boys' game table and TV and a child-sized table for my 2 little boys.
I've also managed to dejunk the living room, too, but that won't last long. My best cleaning tip is to buy a LARGE shovel and find new homes for your children! :)
Outside, I'm putting up an umbrella-type clothes line today when I finish work this afternoon. I have to go buy some concrete to set it into the ground. I'm going to build a dog pen this weekend, too. My 13-year-old (Luke) is really handy with tools and likes to build things, so I'm enlisting his help. I think my husband may get to be home at least for Sunday so I can count on his help with the project, too. He works up in Des Moines so we only get to see him about once a month or so.
After we get the dog pen done, I want to build a chicken pen and get some baby chicks. Gotta get busy because most of the hatcheries quit hatching them out the end of May!
Oh, yeah! Gotta get something done about a garden, too. I'm thinking of building a raised bed. Even though we have 25 acres of land, it's sort of hilly so it's hard to find a nice level spot for a garden, so I think I'll have to improvise something by using raised beds.
Also, today's the day to sign the boys up for the summer baseball league here. I love to watch them play, but it takes up so much time - 4 evenings a week!
Can't forget the basement....that has to go on my "to do" list! It's so bad I can barely get in it to do laundry!
I'd better get back to work! I'll read up on this thread later this evening to see what good ideas you ladies have for spring cleaning! :)
I just use bottled spring water.....
...and Irish Spring soap. I've found it works pretty good on American springs as well....
Oh my list!!!
I have to switch the closets, take down screens and wash them, wash windows, reorganize the basement, lose 10 pounds. You know, the usual stuff!
I am so sorry to hear that. I hope everything works out for the best for you and your daughters.
I don't have any birds but I do have 2 dogs, a 6yo, and no rugs!!!!!!
I hate vaccuum cleaners.
