It wouldn't do your sketches? I scanned a page out of my Senior Year HS yearbood and it came out a bit grainy. But I attributed that to the yearbook, not the scanner. (But I haven't tried to fiddle with the settings, etc. yet, either. So I may be able to overcome it when I get time to read the information that came with it, haha! I've just been scanning with whatever the defaults are).

It also saves the image to whatever folder it feels like rather than letting me specify where I want them saved to.

When I scan pics, it brings up a window that DOES have a "Browse" button and it lets me select WHERE I want the pics scanned to. At first, I had the same problem you did until I used the "Browse" button and selected where I wanted them to go.

There is also a line in that window that allows you to "name" the photo scans when saving them. (Example: Yesterday the AC/Heater thermostat in my house bit the dust. I took some photos of it to send to my buddy so he could help me figure out some stuff on the replacement. When I scanned the pics I typed in "Thermostat" and it scanned the pics and saved them as "Thermostat001", "Thermostat002", etc.).

It refused to scan the sketches.
Kept trying to tell me that it was a document.
Hitting the browse option didn't produce any results different from what I've experienced with it.
(Was one of the things I tried initially.)

Something else it does, it grabs onto system memory and resources, and doesn't let them go.
And if you scan again, it grabs more system memory and resources unntil you have to reboot the machine.

Could just be the scanner itself, and just this scanner.
Or the installation was somehow slimed and has gone undetected.
(I did not install the scanner, so I do not know.)
