LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Britney Spears said on Tuesday she was pregnant with her first child, ending months of speculation over whether the pop princess was launching a new career as a mother.
Spears, 23, who married dancer Kevin Federline last September, made the announcement in a posting to fans on her official Web site.
"The time has finally come to share our wonderful news that we are expecting our first child together. There were reports that I was in the hospital this weekend. Kevin and I just want everyone to know that all is well. Thank you for your thoughts and prayers. Love Britney and Kevin," the brief posting said.
Spears became a world-wide pop phenomenon in the late 1990s when she shot to fame with her 1999 debut "...Baby One More Time." She has since sold more than 60 million albums.
Why don't you share with us how many records you've sold?
You're right, she's a talentless slut. I don't know how one could argue that!
Britney Barred From Looking After Stepson 7 April 2005 (WENN) Britney Spears has been barred from looking after her eight-month-old stepson Kaleb, because she's not "experienced" enough. Spears' husband Kevin Federline welcomed his second child into the world just two months before he walked down the aisle with the beauty. While Federline's ex-girlfriend Shar Jackson allows the newlyweds to look after her two-year-old daughter Kori, she's refusing to leave them with baby Kaleb until he's much older. She tells America's Star magazine, "As a mom, I won't put my baby in the hands of somebody who can't handle it. Britney has no experience with babies, and Kevin's a great dad, but his only experience is with Kori, and he had my help the whole time."
Women should just not be permitted to make decisions on their own. Period. We must save them from themselves.
You know what? I always get the feeling that Britney Spears never really wanted to be a pop star. I think the whole business intimidates her (she not being the brightest bulb in the box). I think that she really wanted to stay in Louisiana, go to high school and try to get into college, marry a doctor and spend her life having 1.5 kids, eating bonbons and taking pottery classes.
The defendant.
Agreed. But I'm guilty of supporting their unworthy efforts. Not so much Britney, since I don't think I've ever really listened to any of her music in its entirety. I like just about anything from classical to hip hop, but my ears typically prefer groups like Zeppelin et al. As for movies, I'm more of a Zucker/ Bruckheimer, Ridley Scott, and an occasional Woody Allen kind of guy. I don't go to the movies very often (maybe once every three months), but the point is, I do like to go to the movies and eat up the useless mind candy. Any way, that is my way of relaxing (as is the case for many others, I suspect). So I have little to no room to complain about a celeb's lifestyle. I'm the reason they are what they are. The best I can do in this instance is wish the best for Mrs. Spears and her baby, which is something I think we all should want.
I think the best thing for her would have been for her to stay married to that guy from her hometown and move back there.
I get the impression that her Mother is the real villain in all this. She is living her life through her daughter and wants to be a star vicariously, more than she wants what is best for her daughter.
I know four women who are pregnant...how come they don't rate any publicity? Yawn!
Ahem. You'll have to do better than that to get on the tagline. I suggest using the terms "genius", "sexy" and "super-genius".
I don't know that there is a villian per se. I'm not saying that Britney doesn't like the attention or the wealth. But I think she's malleable and her mother cares much more about her career and thinks that Britney's career has to be managed.
ClintonBeGone may have exaggerated by half, meaning the number peaked closer to 25 million fans. Her first album with Jive Records '...Baby One More Time' is to date the best-selling album by a teenager, with 14 million copies sold in the United States and over 25 million worldwide, plus 3 million with the five released singles. Over the course of her first three albums, Britney Spears had sold approximately 57 million copies worldwide.
So if this is any indicator, Britney has either one VERY rich fan buying up everything she releases OR, more likely, there are millions of people out there that think she has even a little talent.
I agree. It is easy to look at a Guy Ritchie type and exclude him from that list by saying his niche is more for exploiting action and violence but I think there is enough there in his repertoire to indict. : ) One instance that comes to mind where male and female sex sell in the same way is the Abercrombie and Fitch models. I do not understand how a guy would be enticed to buy clothing from a store that uses a bare chested male to hock its product. If they were marketing to women, then okay, it makes sense... show the guy half naked and bring in the ladies. Well, then again, Victoria's Secret displays scantly clad beauties to draw in women, presumably so they will look good for their mate (or to attract a mate), so I could be missing something. It's lost on me. All I know is, I get the giggles when I walk past an A&F storefront with those large scale photos of some guy laying on a beach, staring off into the distance... What in the wide wide world of sports does that have to do with clothes?
She's married...so the "slut" thing might be a bit harsh.
"Yes, please do.....brave one."
It's like training for those young Brittney fans who don't know where babies come from. "This is where the baby grows".
I wonder what her mom thought about her marrying Federline?
Hark! I shall ride swiftly into the fray,
Thy good name to uphold and defend.
I shall return to thee,
With my shield or on it.
Hi-yo Silver, AWAYYYyyyyyyyyy!
