Why Doesn't The Vatican Sell The Naming Rights For The Next Pope?

Many sports venues have sold the rights to name the location and enjoyed significant financial rewatds.

The Church in Rome has faced and will face claims for compensation for priestly misconduct. Why doesn't the Church build a fund to pay for priestly pedophilia, past and future, by selling the naming rights for the next Pope?

There are all sorts of organizations that would pay big bucks to have it's name mentioned every time the Pope's name was used. Some examples:

Pope Leo Sandinista,

Pope Urban Total,

Pope Clement Toyota,

Pope Pius Sony,

Pope Leo al-Qaeda,

Pope Gregory Teresa Heinz,

Pope Urban Nextel,

Pope Pius Trump.

The alternatives are endless and the potential for raising cash for the Church is extraordinary.

A great idea, even though the world may not yet be ready for it. But, while Pope John Paul II was a strong right arm to Ronald Reagan in the effort to destroy Soviet communism, the next Pope could easily side with those who wish us ill in the world today. In the past, the Church in Rome has, itself, jockied for position as a world power and, in doing so, has sought to brimg down stronger temporal powers.

I'd rather have naming rights to you...something like Total Jerk or Distorted Reality.

We already know what the name would be if the rights were sold: Pope McWalmartsoft Exxoncocola.

"Why doesn't the Church build a fund to pay for priestly pedophilia"

While I'm not Catholic and I disagree with the policy--priest celibacy is *not* the issue--the issue is that the Church (not just the Catholic Church) has been targeted and infiltrated by homosexual recruiters and saboteurs POSING as priests.

Swift and sure capital punishment of child molesters (hetero AND same-sex) would put a quick end to this evil.

Whoring any church name is below crass. I realize you must have been trying to use a light touch but it didn't come through well enough.

Again, we need CAPITAL PUNISHMENT for ALL child molesters.

Well-said......pedophiles knew the absolute trust people placed in priests.

In his biography, the British actor Alec Guiness touchingly tells that his conversion to Catholicism was motivated by a realtime scene in which he saw a small boy trustingly place his hand in the hand of a priest, and how that expression of trust moved him to convert.

Pedophile priests calculatedly set out to co-opt that trust
