I just learned to play this game with my fiance' and his 6 year old son. Who exactly is on the Slug Bug Council? And how do you become part of this council?? Do you need to be appointed? I need to know these things, because I am loosing the feeling in my legs.

This was the first game I taught my Japanese wife. After the initial cultural misunderstanding ("Why you hit me?!?!?") we've had great fun with it.
I had no idea that you got two slugs for a convertible.

These days, I'd say you HAVE to include the new VW's; there just aren't enough old Beetles on the road anymore to make the game really painful--I mean really fun.
I loved it when I was a missionary in South America for two years. They were still making the old-style Beetles in Brazil and Mexico in the early 1990s (and perhaps they still are?), so they were all over the place. You could really rack up the Slug Bug points quickly.

I've played this game since I was little. I personally don't play the slug backs. Most people don't seem to have heard of two hits for a convertible, so I get to do lots of smacking on those. All three of my girls play it too...and yes, we play with the new ones.

We do 'slug bugs (no slug backs)' for Beetles and New Beetles. We also 'Cruiser bruiser (no bruise-backs)' for PT Cruisers.

(Just my opinion, of course. Your mileage may vary.)
