IMHO, the worst thing you could do at FR is get involved in anything other than reading and commenting on the news.
Too much emotion is assumed while reading peoples posts. I try to be patient with my writing and apologetic with my tone. To me at least, that way it seems I'm just talking around a campfire instead of just yelling across the aisle.
