FReeper Family Table - April Fools and Foolishness
Gabz | April 1, 2005 | FReepers

What was the best April Fool's joke/prank you ever pulled off on someone................OR.............what was the best pulled on you?

I'm really not good at jokes/pranks so I can't honestly say I've ever gotten the upper hand on anyone, but had a doozy pulled on me back in 1983.

I had been at my first job in radio news for less than 6 months in Dover, Delaware. The phone ringing at 6am woke me up....it was the news director telling me to get out of bed and get downtown to the Capitol complex because an Air Force C-5 had just crashed there.

Well my dear friend Dave knew me and my habits very well.....I started throwing on clothes all the while asking him 9million questions.....then hung up to get my gear and get downtown......just as I was closing the door the phone rang again, and since this was back in the days before cell phones I had to answer it. Thank goodness I did.

You guessed it - it was him.........shouting April Fool.

It's more than 20 years later and I still haven't gotten back at him for that.

I'm trying to think of a good one for my hubby. I have a feeling he'll get me before the day is out.

Hey ya'll!

The best one I had pulled on me was last year. I went to get a shower and no matter what I did I could NOT get my shampoo to come out of the bottle. I knew there was plenty in there, but it wouldn't come out no matter how hard I squeezed. I took the lid off and found that the kids had put a teeny piece of plastic wrap over the opening inside the cap. Those stinkers! They assured me that this year is dad's turn. So I'm just waiting. I actually don't know if they did anything to him or not, but I guess we'll see! :o)

LOL!!!! Hopefully they will get him.

I contemplated calling my FRiend up in Dover about massive power outages across the region..............he is a mouthpiece for the Public Utility Commission in Delaware.......but I don't know if he would believe me.....

One of the Boston radio stations announced the time one hour later the whole morning. THey got calls all morning long from people who were sitting in their offices all alone, a full hour early.

TOTAL CURMUDGEON WARNING!!! In three... two... one....

I'll be honest with you about this. If you don't know me, you'll have to trust me that I do have a sense of humor, love to laugh and joke. But I really, really, really have a "thing" about deliberately deceiving people, or being deceived. To me it's a form of lying, and it's mean. I don't do it, and I don't like it -- beyond something followed by an immediate "Just kidding!"

I hate that Hugh Hewitt and Rush Limbaugh do this. They'll go on and on for days, flat-out lying about someone or something, thinking they're being funny. Not funny.

As a teen, I was TPed. I hated it. It would have been funny if they'd rang the doorbell, waited, yelled "Surprise!" -- then helped me take it all down.

Flame me, I won't care. I just don't think amusing oneself by sustainedly deceiving and making a fool out of somone else so you can laugh at him or her is funny.

Hey! I warned you!

Dan

I'm sure it does. The only way I got to see or talk to a friend of mine between the end of January and mid April was to bring her my taxes to do!!!

I've got one before I leave into 1040 hell.

One year on our anniversary my husband gave me a cheap wallet with a ricky martin keychain attached...I was so mad at him. It was only a joke. Since then the keychain has found its way into many gifts. Three years ago I put a box under the tree that was the size of a playstation 2. Then the night before I switched it with an identical sized box. I even weighted it right with a heavy boardgame. Taped to the top was mr ricky martin himself!

It was so funny seeing his anticipation and then his face when he realized he had been duped! Of course we quickly got out the ps2 and all was well. Who knows when the dreaded keychain will surface again!

I read about one that was pretty funny. Put a spool or a long length of thread into a pocket, and leave a small bit hanging out of the pocket. Someone will invariably say, "You have a thread; let me get that." When they try to yank of the thread, they will just keep pulling and pulling and pulling.

I suffer from panic attacks. Full blown shaking uncontrollably, sweating and heart palpitations. I almost passed out at my "surprise" wedding shower... the family learned never ever to do that to me again. Don't get me wrong, I love a good joke, but gags are a completely different animal... I cant stand them. Believe it or not, I get panic attacks seeing gags pulled on TV...

Candid Camera? I hated that show when I was young
