What was the setup, add ons etc if ya have time ???....is it just a internal modem for yer desk top or was it an external modem that can wireless in your home for a LAN for the desk top and the laptop ??

The DSL modem(not really a modem but that's what people call them for some reason) is just a device that forwards your local traffic into the telco network over PPOE in most cases, to the Internet, and vice versa.
Behind your DSL 'modem' you can have a wireless router, or access point to provide access to other computers in your local network without having to run network cables. All you need is the wireless router and wireless adapters for any computer you want to have access.
