A very good Freeper has another thread going on right now, called "Let's End the Rancor." I started to respond, and realized...my RANCOR ain't going away any time soon. So....
NO! I will never forgive them.
I will never forgive the death cabal that forsook common decency and Judeo-Christian principles, and made a Never-give-in stand just to give those who embrace life grief, tension and tortured, sleepless nights.
Still, where did Jesus say "forgive those who persecute and murder others"?
Okay. God bless.
Well, I asked for it, didn't I? (By the way, I knew you'd come up with it.)
Do me a favor. Read post 86.
This, in my opinion, is the crux of the matter. Judge Greer failed to enforce numerous state statutes regarding guardianship status of the husband. The existing law is adequate but what good is law if it is ignored by the judges sworn to apply it? If guardianship had been transferred to the parents this case would have had a totally different outcome.
Dennis Prager's article is very concise and articulate. I remember reading it when it was posted a while ago.
Faux forgiveness not only does no good, it does harm.
If my response inadvertently hurt/offended you, I apologize.
Agreed.
No need. It's a day of high emotion.
Please read post 86. Thanks.
I find it a little disturbing that so many have a serious misunderstaning about forgiveness.
Another point is that one can sorrow for an evil doer and still be righteously angry at him. And even pray for him.
"Another point is that one can sorrow for an evil doer and still be righteously angry at him. And even pray for him."
Wish I had included that sentiment in my original post--it would have saved some confusion.
Or haul him out and garrot him.
I knew you meant it anyway. How could you not?
"Forgive them, Father; they know not what they do."
Yup.
You'll see who is a believer and who is not.
Tossing His words aside, tells me about the person and what their beliefs really are ... pride ... their will and not His will ... .
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAANNNNNNNNNNNNAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!
WHILE hauling him out and garroting him.
"Another point is that one can sorrow for an evil doer and still be righteously angry at him. And even pray for him."
Quoting littlejeremiah.
Please read post 86.
I don't know.
I have always tried to live by this maxim, in Matthew 6:
14 For if you will forgive men their offences, your heavenly Father will forgive you also your offences.
15 But if you will not forgive men, neither will your Father forgive you your offences.
I am comforted knowing Terri is in Gods loving arms now, free of pain, and knows how many people were praying for her and her family. She may not have quite understood as she suffered.....the why of the last two weeks, but she knows all now.

At Jessica's church on Sunday, the pastor asked for prayers for the Lunsfords.
"Lord, we don't always understand your ways," the Rev. William LaVerle Coats told 175 grieving people during services at Faith Baptist Church, where many people saw the girl for the last time on the night she disappeared. "We accept what has taken place here, and ask that you would give us some peace."
Coats asked churchgoers to forgive Couey. Jessica's father said he may have a hard time with that request. "He needs to stand up and be a man now and take his death penalty," Mark Lunsford said.
I don't know how I would have reacted had that been my child. I think I would have had to tell someone off and left.
muawiyah--The "big" word you gave me earlier I think fits into the "Lord, we don't understand your ways" quote.
