Rush: The 11th Circuit Court had said "No" to Johnny Reno, but she went ahead and took custody of Elian anyway...........................
Very well put.
It has become painfully obvious that obeying the court order was the wrong thing to do.
Also, that the United States Congress has practiced in the same sort of lip service we saw from the U.N. prior to invading Iraq, that is, issuing an order and yet doing nothing to enforce that order.
And what of the Florida Legislature? They also could have done the right thing by changing the law which would have vacated Judge Greers order that Terri be starved to death.
We are witnessing a failure in our government because there is not the will within it anywhere to stop this atrocity. Not in the courts, not in the legislatures, and not in the executive branches.
Judge Greer did not just order the feeding tube removed, he forbad nourishment going thru the mouth - proving this had nothing to do with Terri's wishes, it was the desire of the judge and prosectuor to kill the poor woman. Police stand at her bedside to prevent anyone from giving her water.
I'm absolutely appalled at the idea of a shootout in this situation.
Grim as this is, can you imagine the hysterics if a shootout occured? Especially if a bystander were killed?
The Press would have a field day with that one.
How sickening the death of Terri Schiavo must be measured against the consequences of a confrontation between the US Marshalls and FL cops.
Any mob, no matter how well ordered and intentioned is but one false move away from becoming a riot.
If the cops see a bunch of people coming at them, they will start firing off tear gas canisters, which would create panic.
If, for some reason, that didn't happen, when the protestors got to close, and the cops tried to arrest them, all it would take is for one cop to make one wrong motion, and again, you've got a riot.
Not that we need an autopsy to know she was murdered.
Still, at least some are attempting to see some justice come out of this.
Thanks for the post.
the idea is, once it reaches critical mass, it will reach the point that Jeb will have to intervene on the side of the protestors.... And in any case, depending on the numbers out ther gunning for terri, the cops would be incapable of handling it...
I'd vote for starving the bad guys in this one to death, except that I'm a follower of Christ and I wouldn't do that out of respect to Him.
Also, I accidently spoke of Terri in the past tense in my post. She is still with us and I meant no disrespect to her.
Pray for Terri and the Schindlers.
Which is why both conservatives and blacks need their own parties. But the system is rigged in favor of the major parties.
I think Greer exceeded his authority to tell the DCF it could not act to protect this citizen when the DCF was going to act on new facts not presented in court or decided by the court. He was saying in essence that no matter what happens, or what you think the new facts are, even if she sang Bette Midler tunes in her sleep last night, he is going to continue to order her to be starved to death. And that's not his job; his job is to rule on the Schiavo suit that was filed years earlier and tried years earlier. That judgment gave him the right to issue orders in accord with the judgment; it did not give him the right to order that new facts and different laws and different parties (the DCF) could not supersede the judgment.
See ya!
C'mon now, admins, I thought sure there'd be a zot by now. What's the holdup?
