Ain't that the truth. This could very well be the end of Freerepublic if they don't all get a grip. Talk about playing into the hands of the radical left.
Sure, they never are...what planet...oh, you might be young...sorry, in case your somewhat new here, they ALWAYS say they aren't running...old politic stuff
I'd like to know where all these nuts are at when voting is done, when laws are drafted, and when innocent people die every day. Probably home shining up their tin hats. Isn't it amazing how many people suddenly have a law degree, that have never (obviously) even read the constitution?
Thank you for showing that you don't know what you are talking about.
People go against their party all the time. They are not slaves, they do not march in lock step and they can not be taken out and shot if they do not conform.
The worst that might happen to them is that they might be forced out of the party however that is not Jeb Bush's call either.
I can only imagine what they are saying at the DUmpster! I wouldn't know because I don't go there, but I'm sure they are laughing at the fact that people are saying things like this.
This one is just stupid.
For all who think that pushing for a constitutional showdown would be the answer my question is what then.
Right now the dems are happy to stand on the side and watch the various circular firing squads form.If Gov.Bush had forced a showdown the dems would then be like a she bear defending her cubs. This would land in the US Supreme court in a matter of days.So you would have the judiciary deciding a case of reigning in the judiciary.
I wonder who would win that one.I can`t picture more than Rehnquist,Scalia and Thomas siding with the Gov.Got to protect the home turf you know.
This would ultimately strengthen the run away judiciary.
I wish I had an answer. The check on the Supreme court was to amend the Constitution. This was designed to be hard when there was only 13 states,it is virtually impossible now with 50.
The Judicial branch did not gain their stranglehold over us overnight and the idea that Jeb has ultimate power just by virtue of his elected office is not realistic. He does not. If you feel so strongly that this must be done, it is just as much your responsibility as it is his. He already has done more work toward saving Terri than you have done and, despite all his efforts, it did not work. He will not have the power of law standing behind him should he act now any more than you would. He's the governor of a state with the responsibility of millions of people on his shoulders in addition to this terrible situation with Terri Shiavo.
I totally agree with you, Route66. And furthermore we need to remember that if it were not for Jeb Bush, Terri would have been dead two years ago. Because of his action then with Terri's Law I, he gave Terri's family two more years with her, and his intention was that they would have many more years. He cannot control how the FSC ruled in throwing that Law out, nor how the FL Senate voted this time around.
I'm scared that we're targeting the wrong people with the blame for this, and that the tragedy that has happened will be wasted because the wrong people will be vilified - good people that have actually worked hard to save Terri's life.
Meh any blame dished out at Jeb is blame that should be directed at Michael and George Felos. I never wish harm upon anyone, but I hope they're both hounded by this scandal for the rest of their days.
You know what gets me over this though, the fact that the GOP just leaped into this thing and then they weren't willing to go the whole nine yards. Now it blows up in their face.
i hope you realize how right you are...this IS the Roe v Wade for the euthanasia "death ghouls". scientology is very much involved in this whole tragic mess and i'm sure any real investigation into this case will bear that out.
and sometimes inappropriate
Reality, you don't know what you are talking about but thanks for playing.
Notice that all the posters deriding this satire can only call it names and dismiss it out of hand. They don't bother to refute the material elements of the comparison though.
No. It's ultimately Michael Schaivo's and George Greer's fault as they are the killers. But remember what Pilate did after administering the Roman law. He washed his hands and declared "I am innocent of this man's blood. It is your concern."
OH now i understand... Terri is Jesus, and Jeb is Pilate? Comparing some woman who cant even talk to Jesus is a mega stretch and is totally offensive. Jesus willfully died for our sins of sound mind and body.
Fixing the a dangerously arbitrary and capricious judiciary was the Number-One reason I voted for Bush in 2000, and was up there with the War on Terror in 2004. So far, I've gotten nothing for my support.
Precisely. Hearsay evidence in a "right to die" case is now controlling, and the federal courts have said they have no interest in reversing this. That's called "precedence."
