Letter to President Bush about Terri Schiavo
Self | 27 Mar 05 | LoneRangerMassachsuetts

March 26, 2005

President George W. Bush White House Washington, D.C.

Dear Mr. President, It now appears that Terri Schiavo has no champions. She will soon die. This is a win for the advocates of euthanasia and a loss for America. When we give up trying as a society we begin dying. The Europeans are a good example. Just two years ago the French couldn’t be bothered to halt their vacations to take care of their elderly parents who died by the tens of thousands in a heat wave. All they care about are their vacations, short work weeks, and pensions.

The Terri Schiavo saga is more than just a right to die cause for the terminally ill. When someone commits suicide, we feel saddened for this self-inflicted death but we do not fear for ourselves and loved ones. When we let the advocates of euthanasia carry on, they will inevitably seek greater numbers of the weak among us. Nursing homes will turn into hospices for which the likes of George Felos and Judge Greer can now only dream. Many of us will be at the mercy of state sanctioned mercy killing. Medicine will turn to eugenics rather than advancing cures and quality of life. This is the demon that is breaking loose in Florida and Oregon.

The most incredible sidebar to the Schiavo story is the stated goal of Michael Schiavo, George Felos, and Judge Greer to burn the material evidence. Terri will be cremated within one hour of her death. With all the firsthand accusations leveled at Michael Schiavo and George Felos by care workers who had direct contact with Terri, the indifference by Florida law enforcement officials in openly seeking the truth and settling public outrage is crushing. I am equally appalled that the medical establishment does not seek an autopsy to scientifically establish Terri’s diagnosis. Do they not care if the public sees the medical community as credible? With all the second and third opinions Americans seek, one would think they should. A truly impartial post mortem evaluation is necessary to keep our trust.

Putting the Terry Schiavo saga into context, it seems foolish to wage a war on the other side of the world while we decay within. If the Bushes kick the can of euthanasia down the road, not only will the Bush legacy be undistinguished, but also America will have made a great stride toward its demise as a great nation. When Lincoln was confronted with the end of the Union, he acted.

Sincerely,

My point was not about what is happening to Terri... I think what is happening to Terri a crime..

My point was that it's a State matter for the State to work out. Congress passed a bill and President Bush signed it, The bill didn't get the desired result, but I expect my President to follow the law, and that's what I believe what is going on here.

I understand that there is some here that would like to see President Bush to order Marine One to land on the grounds of the Hospice and see GWB take custody of Terri Schiavo in a made for TV production, but unfortunately it doesn't work that way

The reason it doesn't work that way is because while we all went to work and on vacations with our kids, Soros and company were infiltrating not only the legal system but the ivy league medical schools.

I don't care about laws. I care about my children. I don't want to continue to raise them in the coming utilitarian society. Nor do I want to be killed here by forced dessication, as many are killed in this country every single day.

It is too late to change the laws in a quiet, orderly manner. The only thing left is dramatic action, or immigration.
I have not been one calling for dramatic action, but I am looking seriously at immigration.

I would not ask Governor Bush or President Bush to be nothing more than a repeat of Clinton/Reno. That is insane!

People who blame Bush and the courts aren't thinking this through. And quit sendng hatemail to blogs who don't agree with you - conservatives are supposed to be better than that, and it makes Pro-lifers look like DU Moonbats

I fail to see what is hateful in my letter. I didn't know that the Free Republic is a blog. As for your link to powerlineblog, I would suggest you spend more time reading history. Talking about legal process is about as entertaining as looking at Buddhist monks look at their bellybuttons while chanting. When people FEEL they are getting screwed, they break into a rampage like lopping off heads and stringing up their enemies. They usually reach that point after the rules driven bureaucrats are so onerous that revolt is more attractive than peace with injustice. We have moved one step closer to such a state. Justice is a thing one feels. To babble on solely about legal process is idiocy.

"The President has to act within the law, and from everything I have read and heard, there isn't much he can do without an act of Congress."

There is at least one more thing both Bush's could do to stop this madness, if they wanted to.

Since they were both publicly invited to come to the Hospice and see Terri for themselves, why not do just that? Let either one of them or both walk right through the front door, unannounced and with a film crew. Film Terri and show the world the "beauty" she is enduring and that she is not at peace.

If it doesn't save Terri it will sure help expose these gruesome people killing her for the charlatans and demons they truly are and maybe, just like in 1945, pictures of the horrendous condition she will be in will sicken the public enough to force them to turn against this culture of death.

Add me to those who are experiencing similar emotions. I would have never dreamt that this could happen in our America. A part of our soul has been destroyed. What has made us great was our morality and charitableness. Our economic, military and technological greatness have all been rewards by G-d for our moral and charitable goodness. What has happened to this goodness? How can we allow a cumming and selfish husband to so alter the soul of our country? Where is the fight in us for everything we have ever stood for? This is just a heartbreaking period for the United States of America, and I, for one, can never quite regard this country in the same great light that I have until now. Many people in our nation will look back on this horrific miscarriage of justice as a watershed event. I will keep on shouting this from the rooftops until someone in position to save Terri finally has the fortitude to act not only in her behalf, but in behalf of so many of us who are quickly losing faith in our country.

I agree 100%. The Bush boys will have failed us. Period. I'm sorry to say it too. My belief in this matter is based on far more than emotion.

Great letter!

But one thing: Governor Jeb Bush may have feared risking his governorship but in the process he threw away any possibility of ever running for President. That guy couldn't get elected dog-catcher at this point. At least not by Republicans.

LH

Says a lot about the kind of people that inhabit DU.

I have emailed my thoughts about going to the Hospice with a film crew to both Bush's. My voice alone will probably go ignored, I'm sorry to say.

Hopefully, more of you will email them and maybe help them grow a pair.

A few years ago I registered my FR screen name at DU just so nobody else would use it. Eventually I realized that I didn't care and so a few weeks ago I posted a few thoughts and was summarily "deleted", lol.

I tried to sound like a flaming bung-hole so I would fit in but I guess my good spelling and careful articulation gave me away. Haven't peeked into that silly playpen since.

Regards,
LH

A monstrous evil has been unleashed in our land. We let a county probate judge order the starvation death of a non terminal incapacitated woman in the face of evidence that this was not her wish. The same judge stared down a Governor of a state, who was too afraid to use his Constitutional given power to protect inalienable rights of a citizen. The men buried at Concord and Lexington turn away in disgust.

BUMP

Imagine the man who claims moral authority to send others to their deaths to defend the innocent, unwilling to create controversy to personally defend the innocent himself.

Both of the Bushes are more like Bill Clinton than George Washington if they will not act for good, polls be damned.

My support for these silver spoon-fed cowards dies with Terri.

May God have mercy on their souls.
