Without the pro-life, and voters who vote on moral issues, the Republican party is dead.

I believe this is why W's poll numbers are down.

You may be correct, but an alternative scenario is that many middle of the road voters who voted for W on terrorism and security are now unhappy because of "government interference" in a "family matter."

I do know in my circle of acquaintances, the pro Terri - anti Terri division is even more marked than in the polls. 80% think the courts have handled this (I've tried to point out some of the irregularities), and that Congress (the president) has no business getting involved. They always mention "I thought the Right was for less government." So, I don't know which of the above scenarios account for W's decreasing popularity, but in based on the folks around me I'd guess it's the latter:(

While I don't think leaders should govern by polls I'd be interested in seeing questions aimed at teasing out just this question. Is W losing more from the Centrists or the pro-life single issue Right.
