2005-03-23) -- With his wife desiccated and starving in a nursing home bed, Michael Schiavo revealed today that Terri would have wanted an advance of at least $5 million for her "right-to-die" book, and twice that plus "a piece of the boxoffice" for the movie rights.
"Since the day I remembered that Terri told me she didn't want eat or drink if she became disabled, this has been a human rights case," said Mr. Schiavo. "Book and movie rights are basic human rights, and I'll continue to fight to see Terri's wishes carried out."
The Florida man said Terri's agent has several "live offers" but they don't yet fulfill Terri's expressed desires.
"We talked about this all the time," he said. "Terri would say, 'Honey, if I'm ever incapacitated, let me slowly die of thirst and make sure to get an agent that knows how to pull together a book and movie package with a foreign distribution clause and a licensing deal for the clothing and toys. And I won't settle for a stinking network movie-of-the-week'."

It is only a matter of time before this satire becomes truth.
LOL....I needed that - thanks!
I laugh, but of course I'm waiting for this to actually happen. The "good news" is that Judge Greer will completely fall for it. /s
Sickening but it probably will happen.
Terri's life reduced to a Lifetime movie of the week and her "poor" widowed husband MS fighting for the profits.
Disgusting.
"...The lapse of time between the various offenses and the indictment of defendant on July 27, 1967, is considerable but is adequately explained by the record. The murder weapon in each case was unique, insulin. The deaths of each of these victims were initially attributed to causes other than a criminal agency. Suspicion of insulin and of defendant as the person administering the insulin was not aroused until the death of Zella in 1956. It was not until years later, after much painstaking and persistent investigation by law enforcement officers, and the discovery of advances made in {Page 3 Cal.3d 621} medical knowledge and techniques, that sufficient evidence could be accumulated to charge defendant with these deaths. Unfortunately, by then other of defendant's victims had lost their lives. This is the only known reported case of murder by insulin poisoning in the United States. Only one other, reported world-wide, occurred in England in 1956. ..."
"...Dr. Grace Fern Thomas, a psychiatrist and an expert in insulin shock therapy, and director of the insulin shock department at the time defendant was at Camarillo, testified as to the procedures on the ward. A precise dosage of insulin was measured for each person at a particular time. At a specific level that patient would go into shock in approximately two hours after the injection. Patients do not progress at the same level. Careful watch must be kept of the pulse, color, blood pressure, general condition, and neurological signs, such as pupillary changes and body motions. When a patient is going into progressive stages of coma he sweats very profusely and breathes very heavily. Saliva is secreted in large amounts, mucous flows freely and mixes with the saliva, and the patient must be carefully watched, turned, or assisted so that he does not aspirate the fluid into his lungs. Otherwise bronchopneumonia may develop, leading to death. The gag reflex and the cornea reflex are lost. Convulsions may occur, and medication is given to prevent this. The extremities may stiffen. At a relatively deep level of coma the Babinski test (scatching the sole of the foot in a certain manner) will cause a reflex known as the Babinski response (toes fan out). The patient must be brought out of the coma within 10-15 minutes thereafter. This is done by administering glucose through gastric tubes, and if this is not effective, glucose is administered intravenously to raise the blood sugar.
Speaking of murders involving insulin, where is Alan Derschowitz?
One thing this satire drives home for me---is that in cases like this there really needs to be a much higher burden of proof. Before we condemn a criminal we at least ask for proof beyond a reasonable doubt...
Surprisingly Alan Dershowitz came out on the side of the Schindlers.
I usually abhor him, but he sounded very sympathetic to their plight and said he didn't thinking the findings in Terri's verdict was sound enough from a legal standpoint.
More dark humor from Scott Ott. Again it has a ring of truth to it. Unfortuantely.
Right-to-Starve Added to Feminism's Victories

(2005-03-19) -- The National Organization for Women (NOW) today held a jubilant news conference to celebrate the latest advance in women's rights -- the right to have your estranged husband choose to end your life.
"First, it was women's suffrage -- the right to vote -- then abortion, the right to privacy," said an unnamed NOW spokesman. "Finally, a man has led the way in freeing us from the antiquated bigotry that has kept our former husbands from choosing a slow, painful death for us."
The NOW source said the court-ordered removal of Terri Schiavo's feeding tube, based on the testimony of Michael Schiavo alone has "opened a world of opportunities for women to freely die at the hands of the men they love."
"The next time you tell your husband 'I'd rather die than go to that party,' you can rest assured that your words have legal weight and, if the occasion arises, your wishes will be respected," said the NOW source. "What's more, you're free from the worry that your man will be prosecuted for your murder."
Michael Schiavo lives with another woman and their two children. He developed this "backup family" according to his lawyer, "to assuage his eventual grief over the coming loss of Terri -- the woman he loves to death."

Irons was quite good in that film; he played the role of a creepy killer husband well.
Dershowitz does some pro bono work. Too bad he didn't take on her case.
Yes you're right !
Its my understanding that the best lawyer usually wins.
Not to cast aspersions on the Schindlers lawyer, but I wonder if they couldve done better...........
Excellent, you prophet, you.
Wow...
Hey, I'm thinking he'll run for office, he reminds me of a curiously-able-to-get-away-with-everything kind of guy, like bubba clinton.
Hillary & michael slave-o would make a PERFECT TICKET in '08 for the dying to die dems.>>
Just as there are many who have hatred for MS, there seems to be equal amounts of Demonrats who feel "so sorry for the poor man" and actually like him.
I was shopping in Whole Foods in Union Sq. NYC earlier tonight and a whole gaggle of granola peaceniks were whining about how hard this must be on MS.
I was busy shopping for Easter supplies otherwise I wouldve engaged them in debate.
Not that it wouldve mattered...
This will come to pass.
Has the State of Florida ever investigated this insurance company that Mike Schiavo and his girlfriend are running down there?
I swear this guy is mob-connected.
