In Theresa's situation, the stomach tube IS considered life support. A feeding tube is another way of eating.
A pacemaker is another way of keeping your heart beating.
A colostomy bag is another way of....well, you know.
A wheelchair is another way of getting around.
Why is one wrong but the others right? And explain to me why Greer has ruled twice that Terri be given nothing by mouth? And to enforce that, her family is thouroughly searched everytime they enter her room? And there are police in the room to make sure? She isn't being "allowed" to die. She is being FORCED to die.

Pacemaker regulates a heart that beats erratically. The person has the ability to take nourishment with, or without it, and in fact may live without it.
Theresa cannot live if the feeding tube is not in place, or she is forced fed in another manner.

For what it's worth, I think such an action is criminal. (referring to Christian Scientists denying insulin to a diabetic child) Exactly. A life with actual potential gets taken away due to religious beliefs. This fight would be more productive, but it is not the fight y'all choose because you know better to mess with religious people and their right to private decisions.

A pacemaker extends life past what it would NATURALLY be.
Under the law they passed that would include a feeding tube under the definition of 'life support', a simple pacemaker fits the bill.
It supplants a vital spontaneous function, heartbeat in this case, and extends life.
Otherwise they would die.

When we give to Congress the right to decide who should live, we are, by extension, giving them the right to decide who should not live. I, for one, do not want to start down that road.We have already given the courts this decision already (Roe vs. Wade) and look where we are now...

Pacemakers and IV's? You seem to be going way out on a limb to prove your point concerning PVS.

I said "y'all", which is plural, meaning most of the people on this thread. Only yankees think y'all is addressing one person.

Yes, and in the court of law he's still married.
End of story.
Sucks but it's true.

Her parents are not her legal guardians and have been given notice that they may not interfere.

No worries. I don't take it personally.

I prefer the original document rather than your interpretation...We already have enough lawyers and judges telling us their interpretation
U.S Constitution
Section. 2.
Clause 1: The judicial Power shall extend to all Cases, in Law and Equity, arising under this Constitution, the Laws of the United States, and Treaties made, or which shall be made, under their Authority;--to all Cases affecting Ambassadors, other public Ministers and Consuls;--to all Cases of admiralty and maritime Jurisdiction;--to Controversies to which the United States shall be a Party;--to Controversies between two or more States;--between a State and Citizens of another State; (See Note 10)--between Citizens of different States, --between Citizens of the same State claiming Lands under Grants of different States, and between a State, or the Citizens thereof, and foreign States, Citizens or Subjects.
Clause 2: In all Cases affecting Ambassadors, other public Ministers and Consuls, and those in which a State shall be Party, the supreme Court shall have original Jurisdiction. In all the other Cases before mentioned, the supreme Court shall have appellate Jurisdiction, both as to Law and Fact, with such Exceptions, and under such Regulations as the Congress SHALL make.

The judge following the letter of the law at the expense of a human life is akin to the Boards of Education that tinker with teaching methods to instill PC in the curriculum, while year after year many students are not being taught basic capabilites.
The Boards of Education respond that will keep changing it until they get it correct, but meanwhile many students will not get a second bite at the apple, but the system will return! So also when new laws are passed, the next victim will be treated differently, but Terri will have been executed!
It's too bad Terri can't be defined as an animal, then the Florida Government Enterprise would bend over backwards to save her life!
