What's New 1.0.2
Firefox 1.0.2 is a security and stability update that is part of our ongoing program to provide a safe Internet experience for our customers. We recommend that all users upgrade to this latest version.
Here's what's new in Firefox 1.0.2:
Several security fixes .

Browser ping!
just ran the update, if youre on ff1+ just click when you see the red arrow in the upper right..
Fixed "Drag and drop loading of privileged XUL"
Dammit! I do that when I'm developing extensions.
Interestingly enough, I get some popups with FF, but none with IE6 even though I have Adblock.
Could you identify the sites where that occurs? I'd like to duplicate it and report it. Privately if you'd like. I spend some time on these issues, you can look at my homepage for some bloviation on the topic :)
Thanks.
Mostly on Drudge. I really do not remember any other sites. I get a lot of Vonage popups.
OK, I refreshed Drudge probably 25-30 times. Firefox said it blocked popups and let through some banners which is normal.
I'm concerned you may have something else causing the popups.
All of this becomes MOOT if you simply get admuncher. Http://www.admuncher.com. If nothing else, you can use it for 1 month for free. Try it :). 30 days of ad free life is a good thing. I support the cow, and I gain nothing from future sales, but it's probably one of the few shareware programs you'll ever run across that's worth the $25 bucks.
yea yea, I get it were all commies except faithful MS, Apple, and SUN users... youre a broken record
Is it just an update? Will it retain all of my extensions and settings? When I went from 0.8 to 1.0 it did not and I was...perturbed. I had to re-install and re-tweak everything.
Yea all of my settings carried over to the new version..
Alas, mine did not. I ran the 1.0.2 install and it wiped out the previous 1.00 version. It even brought up a window before starting the new version that stated, "Any extensions or themes you had installed in your old version have been disabled."
Not only were they disabled, I could not re-enable them or get them to work by uninstalling and re-installing any of them.
I have upgraded Firefox for the last time. I will stay at 1.0.0 forever. Until they can come out with a true, non-invasive upgrade procedure.
Sam,
Did you run the update or did you download and install a new executable?
That's what has me confused, perturbed, agitated...pick one.
I clicked on the red arrow in my browser at the top right. It showed the critical update...I clicked 'ok' to load it and that's when the fun started.
If I have time, I'll do a full backup of all things Firefox and try it again.
