Vanity: Drove by Hospice, something big is happening
vanity

Posted on 03/23/2005 8:56:02 AM PST by Dominick

I drove by the Hospice on lunch, they are blocking the road, and there are cops everywhere.

I fear something is happening.

The culture of death has recruited tens of thousands of new members.

No, you are quite wrong. It is the Culture of Life that is recruiting the new members. Here is a rerun of a piece I wrote the other night:

The Supreme Court’s Dred Scott decision in March of 1857 purported to settle the slavery issue once and for all. Then, on December 2, 1859 the Abolitionist John Brown was executed for his part in the raid on Harper's Ferry. Although generally viewed as a crackpot, the cause for which he died stirred such emotion that all over the northern states people stood in silence and church bells tolled at the hour of his death. A cultural chasm opened; the moral and spiritual revulsion arising from this national focus on the slavery question galvanized public opinion. The election of Lincoln followed soon after, and civil war. In the end, the moldering body of John Brown and the Truth of his cause led to a new birth of freedom.

Tonight, a woman lies dying in Florida. By her husband's orders she is slowly being starved to death. He will not even allow ice chips in her mouth to ease her suffering. The courts and therefore THE LAW have sanctioned this barbarism, just as once they did back-flips to justify and institutionalize slavery.

But a strange thing is happening again. The death watch for Terri Schiavo is bringing together people from all over the country, even all over the world, to stand in solemn witness to her right to life. As each hour ticks by and the end draws nearer more and more consciences will be examined, more and more conversions made, more mystic chords touched. Her passing will stir this nation, and her moldering remains will give life to the Truth.

The end is inevitable. The Culture of Death is on trial and no earthly court can save it now.

Interesting comment, if this is the case why is everyone so upset about it being removed and so upset that she is going to die from starvation????

It's not "just" the feeding tube. They are also refusing her any attempts to try to eat normally. This entire charade has been an attempt to deprive that woman from food and water in ANY form from the very beginning.

I hope Greer and the rest of his ilk rot in hell.

It has shifted from pro-life to pro-law. The "life" part has been shelved in the name of our judges. But that's just my opinion.

>>>Surely you jest, right? People are upset by the removal of the feeding tube and the prevention by judges of letting people bring her food and water. Many people have testified that she can swallow.<<

But, if the feeding tube is not a form of life support why is everyone so upset? You are avoiding the question. Secondly, if people have testified that she can swallow, again I ask, why is everyone so upset about the feeding tube being removed?? She should be able to eat and drink with no problem according to what you've said.

I drove by, like I do twice a day maybe three times daily, and there was a ruckus. This wasn't the normal activity, there was way more activity there than normal. I know something happened, and now I see something did happen. The police have the whole place sealed up normally with orange fencing and a presence, but Pinellas Park doesn't have the means to support ten to twelve cops 24/7. They barely have enough cops normally.

I figured other FReepers would like to know. Unfortunately we snipe WAY too much here. I was concerned her murder was complete.

I don't know if other FReepers are there, but the nearest FReeper who could post was me.

It's all about the judges.

(SNICKER)

Yeah, you'd think in the midst of all this our Republican "representatives" in the Senate would have a renewed sense of duty in finally getting the presidents judicial nominees passed, seeing as liberal judical tyranny has reared its ugly for all to see.

Oh, wait...thats probably not going to happen either. WTF does it take?

This will seal the deal. Just wait. Bush won't get anywhere with any conservative, pro-life judge. And I long to be wrong.

I've avoided nothing rockbaby. Try to focus.

EVERYONE IS UPSET BECAUSE THE F#@^*`* JUDGES WON'T LET ANYONE FEED HER IN ANY FORM. The people are upset because they won't let her take food intravneously, or orally. What the heck is so hard to understand about this? ITS CALLED STARVATION!!

You're in your twenties aren't you?

Disappointing to be sure. Some folks would rather stand on the "law" and preserve murderers on death row "according to Hoyle". Others prefer to "err on the side of life". And here I thought the man who said that would stand by his principles.

In all seriousness, yes I recognize this is an extremely important moment in our history, and I do not with to see Terri die. I do, however, wish to see FReepers refrain from posting vanities instead of simply posting comments on existing threads. Someone yesterday pointed out that over half the new threads on the site yesterday were Schiavo threads.

I think we can exercise a little control here. And I think you knew what I meant by my post.

LOL, my oh my, you're waaaaay to emotional about this subterfuge, way to emotional. I've read the poll where 50 percent of those polled want the President to defy the federal and state judge rulings, this is ridiculous, if this was the dems and Clinton you'd all be screaming for his head on a platter. As for being focused, I am focused, I want the Schiavo case end, no matter what the outcome, make it final, meaning either the tube stays until Terry naturally passes away or the tube goes once and for all, period, case closed, I'm sick of hearing about this every two years, it's ridiculous.
