Who decides one's own defintion of quality of life?
Eample:
In 1976, when mom's cancer returned, I called the local Cancer Society requesting information on cancer treatments. When I asked about chemo...the person in a tone of oh my dear how awful this would be said, " well, your mother would lose all her hair." I was appalled by that statement. Obviously, that person's hair meant more to her than the extra 3 years my mother was able to spend with her family.
He insisted she go to the hospital, after a long fight with the doctor, she was admitted. I had never heard of such treatment. She died about a month later, but the heartache her family went through, just to have her last days be comfortable was so unnecessary.
