I think I'll use this thread to introduce another kitty into the fold.

"you’ll realize that there are practically no differences for our “democratic” state and e.g. authoritarian government in Turkmenistan."

Really?
How so?

"It’s common knowledge that Turkmen authorities abridge liberty of speech, freedom of the press, exercising control over mass and I-net."

Honestly, I can criticize the government if I feel so inclined.

"They bow down, imposing restrictions on freedom of association and assembly, in order to curtail political activity of non-governmental organizations, including groups of religious minorities."

I haven't had my political beliefs outlawed, nor have I had my right to peacfully assemble removed.
How is this totalitarian again?

"Nijazov does it with the aim of exercising control over latitude in religion. Turkmen powers are also interested in restriction of movement freedom and freedom of migration. But is that so only in Turkmenistan? Can you see the same things in our life after adopting notorious Patriotic Act?"

First off: NO.
Secondly, it's "Patriot Act".
Thirdly: NO.

"Nobody can deny the fact that America has changed greatly after 9/11 attack, because Bush administration forced us to believe in the necessity of great curtailment of democratic liberties and even restrictions of personal freedoms."

Stop the presses.
I saw the necessity of retribution when I watched on TV the second plane hitting the towers, and saw the towers fall.
And no freedoms of mine have been curtailed.
Your information is wrong.
Yes, there are concerns, but they aren't near what you've mentioned.

"But only few people are able to understand that in reality the main goal of it is non-admission of our government’s criticism and returning to totalitarian power (just the same as existing in far Turkmenistan, for example)."

Again, wrong.
It was intended and meant to reduce the chances of terrorists pulling a 9/11 again.
Honestly, more needs to be done to prevent terrorists form entering the country.
But stopping searching 80 year old men and 3 year old kids while letting several middle eastern looking men who are loudly joking about hijacking the plane through is NOT the proper way of doing things.
But that example is 'political correctness', not curtailing of freedom.

Please try to understand the differences.
We are NOT under a 'totalitarian' governemnt.
The UN isn't 'peacekeeping' here.

From www.drugabuse.gov

Q: What are the short-term effects of marijuana use?

A: The short-term effects of marijuana include:

These effects are even greater when other drugs are mixed with the marijuana; and users do not always know what drugs are given to them.

Q: Does marijuana affect school, sports, or other activities?

A: It can. Marijuana affects memory, judgment and perception (11). The drug can make you mess up in school, in sports or clubs, or with your friends. If you’re high on marijuana, you are more likely to make stupid mistakes that could embarrass or even hurt you. If you use marijuana a lot, you could start to lose interest in how you look and how you’re getting along at school or work.

Athletes could find their performance is off; timing, movements, and coordination are all affected by THC. Also, since marijuana can affect judgment and decisionmaking, its use can lead to risky sexual behavior, resulting in exposure to sexually transmitted diseases like HIV, the virus that causes AIDS.

Thers is a better reference to Turkmenistan in this report...

Artist/Band: Keith Toby
Lyrics for Song: The Taliban Song
Lyrics for Album: Shock'n Y'all
(Toby Keith/Scotty Emerick)

Well I’m just a middle aged middle eastern camel herdin’ man
I got a 2 bedroom cave here in north Afganistan
Things used to be real cool then they got out of hand
When they moved in, .......they call themselves the Taliban
(ooo-ooo-ooo yea, )the Taliban

Now, I ain’t seen my wife’s face since they came here
They make her wear a scarf over her head that covers her from ear to ear
She loves the desert and the hot white sand
But man she’s just like me, naw she can’t stand the Taliban
(ooo-Taliban baby)

You know someday soon we’re both gonna saddle up
And it’ll be ride, camel, ride
My old lady she’ll be here with me smilin’ right by my side
We should do just fine down in Palestine or maybe Turkministan
We’ll bid a fair adieu and flip the finger to the Taliban
Oh oh yea the Taliban, baby

Now they attacked New York City cause they thought they could win
Said they would stand and fight until the very bloody end
Well, Mr Bush got on the phone with Iraq and Iran and said
Now you knuckleheads better not be doin’ business with the Taliban

So we prayed to Allah with all of our might
And then those big US jets came flyin’ in one night
They dropped little bombs all over our holy land
And man you should have seen em run like rabbits, they ran, the Taliban

You know someday soon we’re both gonna saddle up
And it’ll be ride, camel, ride
My old lady she’ll be here with me smilin’ right by my side
We should do just fine down in Palestine or maybe Turkministan
We’ll bid a fair adieu and flip the finger to the Taliban

We’ll bid a fair adieu and give a big boner to the Taliban
