Kristy's friend who I told you about that breeds horses, and had lost 2 foals this year, lost another one AND the mare today:( They have only gotten one live one out of 4, so far. They have 2 more to go. Becky, it seems epidemic this year. Do they know what caused it? Is the pasture full of fescue? A lot of people including me are beginging to think it has something to do with the Fort Dodge West Nile vaccine. Any thoughts?

We had heard that last year - as rumor only, but switched from the Fort Dodge to the other brand, the name I can not recall here at work. It is killed live virus I believe.

No, details on what went wrong with any of these mares, for sure. I think one of them had a leg back and it got stuck and died before the vet could get there. The one that happened yesterday, they just found the mare and foal dead with the foal only partially delivered. Kristy seemed to think the foal was just too big.
