This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.
I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts look for it there and wake the thread up!
I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and Becky pings everyone most mornings. Let Becky (Paynoattentionmanbehindthecurtain) and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in . There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news . Legislation that might affect horse owners.
So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

New folk and occasional posters, jump right in and introduce yourselves, tell us about your horses, and post pictures if you've got them!
The parents were driving? I just assumed it was kids.
They didn't know all the particulars but said adults were driving, didn't know if they were the parents or not.
Me too:), can Bob take pictures while he is riding, or is it to intense? Will you go and wait on him at the finish line? How long does he think his ride time will be?
Becky
That's really sad. Even when you don't know people, but see something like that it would put a damper on your vacation for awhile.
I'm sorry your folks had to see that.
Becky
I'll go crew for him so I'll be at the vet check and at the start and finish. Since he's diabetic, I worry that he won't take care enough about his blood sugar. He won't take pictures while he's riding though, he's very competitive so he'll be totally focused on the ride and his horse.
Thanks, Becky. It did put a damper on the vacation and they never met those people. This happened the day before yesterday and I haven't talked to my mother since but I'd like to ask her what else she found out. Who was driving, who told her the age of the girl, etc. She was pretty shaky telling me the story so I didn't push for too many details.
Mack just showed me something interesting.
Did you realize this thread has been viewed almost 25,000 times! Lots of lurking going on:)

My mom took off for Alaska in an RV. I didn't hear from her for 6 months but she has a fit if I don't check in every week or so when she's home!
I can understand that. I don't like messing with stuff when I'm competing. They handed out disposable cameras at a ride one time. You could take pictures then give the camera back and they would publish the good ones in the newsletter. I turned mine back in with 2 pictures taken.
Becky
I have to talk to my mother at least twice a week or she might panic and call the cops. They travel all over tarnation but haven't driven to Alaska, yet. I'm sure they will someday.
Did you see that I'm getting closer to you?
Did you buy that place in Brownwood??
No. A place in the country about 100 miles from Houston. Eddie has been talking about being fed up and starting to look for another job elsewhere and I might want to transfer to a new hospital that will be built later in that area. I suspect that after many weekend commutes we will move if we like it. If not it's still a good investment and better for the horses until we are where we want to be and it's helping his brother. If you go by hours, I'll actually be spending more time with the horses. I'm not crazy about my BIL feeding them but that's what they do at the stable. I just feel that it should be my job, you know?
"I just feel that it should be my job, you know?"
Absolutely. No one can take better care of your horses than you can.
100 miles north of Houston?
Well I know he will do a good job during the week. I didn't mean it that way. I just feel I should be doing it. It's only temp though and a least we got off the pot. Lately it has seemed that it's all been talk and we weren't ever going to do anything. Tomorrow Eddie wants to go to TSC and look at automatic waterers. After he sees the price it will probably be a tub and water hose though:')
That's too bad tuffy. Seems it was supposed to be in good fun, till something very bad happens.
I guess we'd better watch what we say ;~D
Bob, your husband?
Any of yall ever used tryptophan or equi essences?
The stuff found in turkey?
Who are you thinking of zonking out?
