The FreeRepublic Saddle Club thread! - Thread FIVE

*New* The FreeRepublic Saddle Club - Who's Who *pics*

This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.

I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts… look for it there and wake the thread up!

I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and Becky pings everyone most mornings. Let Becky (Paynoattentionmanbehindthecurtain) and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in…. There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics… land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news…. Legislation that might affect horse owners.

So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

I like that your house sits off the road aways. So do you have fence line where your lines are drawn? How many acres is that?

If you do one click north on my property picture, you can seen that road that runs up our property. There are 3 little loops at the back, that is where I took the pictures of the oil well, then if you go down that road to the left it goes down to the creek and there is also a trail that follows the line of the creek. That's the creek I zig zag and have posted pictures of alot. It surprises me that that trail shows up so good, as it's not much more then 4 wheeler wide, and lots of trees on both sides.

I posted a link too - I can't save it on my computer here at work. My street is the street above the red dot, our property in the view shows as a vacant lot - its the fifth lot in on the top side of the road. All the vegetation that you see south and west is the turf farm.

It's seven acres total, about five are fenced... all the way around the clear pasture, and about half of the woods.

It's kindof fun to browse around the area ;~D

Copy both lines of her link, it worked for me. :~D

Turf farm down there eh? Seems like that would be an expensive place to grow grass... would use a lot of water...

Ok, I got it. Dumb me, I was putting a www. in.

It is fun looking around areas. I'm just still amazed how well some of the trails I ride show up.

OKAY.... here's the link...

http://terraserver-usa.com/image.aspx?T=1&S=10&Z=10&X=2642&Y=26178&W=1

I decided to link this instead of copying the picture, because it doesn't mean much without the setting. You can't see the house, really, for the trees. If you scan down the beach there are two docks sitting on the sand. (picture taken at low tide) A large one, and a smaller one. Our beach house is the smaller one.

It's not a lake, it's on Puget Sound, Salt water. When you find our dock, start clicking the 'zoom out' feature, and perhaps look one click south, until you can see what Puget Sound looks like.

That is really cool. I knew it wasn't a lake, I couldn't think of what you called it, "beach house" but I knew it was water:)

I can't find an urban view for my area:(, that does give alot more detail.

The photo was taken in 1999, so before we built both houses. Before I came to America in fact!
Deaconjim had it all planted in vegetables one time. I think they lived on canned produce for years! : D

It's fun looking at places - the view of my area was from 1994 - we didn't move onto it until 1996. I did notice the spectacular lack of trees on mine versus you all's.
