This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.
I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts… look for it there and wake the thread up!
I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and Becky pings everyone most mornings. Let Becky (Paynoattentionmanbehindthecurtain) and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in…. There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics… land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news…. Legislation that might affect horse owners.
So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

OBTW I tripped over a chicken in the colts field and landed face in dirt. Adge came over and nibbled my ear, just what I needed. He then nudged me till I got up, I (would like to believe) think he was concerned! : )

I was trying to do things really quickly and also was doing about 10 other things all at the same time. I just wasnt concentrating and this #*&^ chicken came out of knowhere to trip me up. Grrrrr.......

You are probably right. The last time my DIL went with me she talked me in to giving them another chance because she really wanted ice cream. Most times we stop at DQ. They aren't perfect but usually their behavior acceptable for little kids. Today though they were wired.
Note to self... avoid getting chickens. ;~D
BTW - How's your daughter's (or daughter-in-law?) knee? Is it going to be strong for the clinic?

What is a fair price for a junk saddle at an auction? The kids play on that old barrel Edde built for me when I first started riding and I thought I would throw a saddle on it for them but I don't want to get taken.
oh - it depends on how junky it is, really, and whether it's just a cheap but new kids saddle or a worn out old one.... it's hard to say.
Congrats you two! Wow, beautiful trailer and new foal. Wonderful news to come back to, after being gone this weekend. I went to a shoot yesterday. Got there at 9 and didn't shoot until almost 5. Lots and lots of shooters. All I got was soaking wet! I was suppose to go back today, but I went to the local horse show. My daughter showed Biscuit for the first time in halter. She didn't win anything, but she did good trotting and standing in line. Of course I missed her class, but did see my daughter win a third in Adult Showmanship. I left after that and went to the local gun club, for some practice.
LOL, no we didnt have chicken, but only because I didnt feel like plucking it!
We had pasta and meat sauce, one of the kids favorite!
What other "foods" did they serve at the tea party?
Did someone make scones with cream and jam?

Oh - congratulations to your daughter :) Aren't the local shows fun? I'm sorry you ended up all wet at the shoot. Don't know that my desire and good humor would have lasted as long as yours.
