This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.
I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts look for it there and wake the thread up!
I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and Becky pings everyone most mornings. Let Becky (Paynoattentionmanbehindthecurtain) and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in . There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news . Legislation that might affect horse owners.
So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

New folk and occasional posters, jump right in and introduce yourselves, tell us about your horses, and post pictures if you've got them!
He hasn't been around in a few days. He may be away over easter vacation.
Not trying to be tacky or anything and I guess it's to be expected but he's not peeing a lot. Usually we are talking like Niagra Falls.
There's very little you could say about a horse that I would find tacky. He's probably a little dehydrated from not drinking much due to his illness.
There was a horse track? I thought it was just cars. Both, then.
Lone Star Park in Grand Prairie is one of those top rated horse racing tracks. Are you talking about renting a suite? Trying to get one on a one-time basis would be really expensive at either Lone Star Park or the Texas Motors Speedway. The horse racing track I think the suites would be around $3000 to $4000 for an evening. The car racing track would be even more. Most people buy them for an entire season. The company my husband used to work for had a suite at the Texas Rangers baseball field and we got to use it privately once or twice and invited my family. Those suites aren't anywhere near as nice as those at the horse or car racing tracks.
Just a minute. I'm choking. 3000 a NIGHT?
Not even the whole night. They aren't like hotel rooms, they don't have beds.
How are you getting these pills down Okie? We always give shots so I don't know how fast pills start working. If they are on his feed he might not be getting all of it.
The stable owner and I were going to treat him ourselves with IM penicillin but he got really bad fast so we called the vet instead. He felt this was viral and the antibiotic for complications. I'm not no sure but he's the vet. Anyway to answer your question, Okie has a sweet tooth so I put about 2 cups of crimped oats in a bucket. Put 5 pills in a baggie and powder them with a hammer and put it on top of the oats and then cover it with pancake syrup and mix it up. It's taking him awhile but he licks the bucket. He's getting most of it.
:) I'll have to remember that - I'll bet he does get it all if he's licking the bucket.
YOUR REScue horse is looking alot better.
Becky
HAPPY Easter:)
Rose: FWIW, I agree with everyone about throwing those bits away that are on those headstalls. The headstalls and reins are fine.
BEcky
Happy Easter,
Hope everyone has a wonderful day.
Choctaw squaw
Happy Easter!!!!!!!!!
Good morning everyone! Another busy day here today! Hope everyone is fine, and hope Okie is improving.
That horse that I made the lowball offer is still for sale and she's dropped her price. Another couple of months she's gonna be wishing she took the $800, if she's not already.
HAPPY EASTER to all!!!
Not very good image quality, but it's a good quick sketch I thought.
Happy Easter!
He's improving. Still sluggish and has a runny nose but not as bad and he's still picky and eating real slow but he's working his way back up in the pecking order so I guess he's feeling stronger.
markie look at him http://images.google.com/images?q=tbn:skjNDZvh-a0J:millsquarterhorses.com/images/onlyhimstanding1.jpg they say he's a champ they as in dream horse does :) happy easter
