This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.
I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts look for it there and wake the thread up!
I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and Becky pings everyone most mornings. Let Becky (Paynoattentionmanbehindthecurtain) and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in . There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news . Legislation that might affect horse owners.
So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

New folk and occasional posters, jump right in and introduce yourselves, tell us about your horses, and post pictures if you've got them!
Mommadooo's daughter is visiting us for a week. :~D
Oh cmon. I think you know something.
Notice how no one assumes it's just me and my new diet? ;~D
Oh, I do hope it doesnt rain here this weekend. I dont fancy hiding 200 eggs around the house!
Well I am finally leaving to get feed. See u later!
I like to see kids . . . er, "young people" . . . riding with a good secure seat, especially on a new horse.
Hope you have a MARvelous time . . . . Wish I wasn't so tangled up with kids, school, dog, cats, horses, and work . . . or I'd come out and horse sit too!
That's Bojangling_countrygirl.
And I know LOTSA stuff. (LOL)
YEAH.... that's a guy fer ya!
She's found out being a yard dart isn't much fun. LOL!!!
I have my Old Reliable ride and I don't mind riding light and forward on her because I know she never shuts off. (I used to say she never bucked, but she surprised me on the last hunt.) But my trainer keeps putting me on this young mare she's bringing along, and there's a fellow around the corner who has a string of polo ponies and I help ride them down in the spring. If I sat any further back I'd be sitting on their tails . . .
A couple years ago, I was sent sailing up. That sudden stop had me looking for REALLY soft places to sit.
You see those two threads about the starving horses and cattle? The comments had underlining meaning, of the Shiavo case.
LMAO
;^)
No, I haven't seen those. Do you have a link or the title of the thread?
I don't think my seat was as good as it could have been, but oh well.
Markie
My seat looks very different in a saddle that doesn't fit. My husband is 6'6" and has a 22" Pariani jumping saddle . . . when I ride in that thing I rattle around like a BB in a boxcar. I used to ride in a Gold Cup, but now that I'm old and cranky I have a 16 1/2" Courbette all-purpose hunting saddle, my trainer calls it my "Barcalounger" - it's got a deep seat and fairly prominent knee rolls for an all purpose saddle, if I snug my stirrup leathers up so that my knees are jammed under the knee rolls, I feel VERY secure (I still come off now and then though, usually when I do something stupid.)
I really didn't (and still don't) care, I love riding. In ANY weather (ask my mom for those stories), and anywhere(once again, ask mommadooo)
Brushy trails and hills are my favorite. :^D
I hope we all have good weather today :~D
Very busy here today... talk to you all later on!
It's suppose to be 70 here today, but right now it's gray, windy and chilly.
Becky
