This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.
I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts look for it there and wake the thread up!
I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and Becky pings everyone most mornings. Let Becky (Paynoattentionmanbehindthecurtain) and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in . There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news . Legislation that might affect horse owners.
So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

New folk and occasional posters, jump right in and introduce yourselves, tell us about your horses, and post pictures if you've got them!
Hey, it might work! ;o)
When I get up, I gimp around for the first couple of steps, then it's fine. Weird!
It'll be in the last place you look ;~D
Uh-Oh, I hope you find it. I'm constantly laying stuff down and forgetting where I put it. I need a "clapper" for just about everything I own. I don't see how you can get by without a purse. I've got too much $hit to carry around to do without one.
GR0000AN!
~sip~
It's 85 today and humid. Supposed to get showers and t-storms later. This is what I mean by it jumping from winter to summer in a week!
corn oil really helps. Put a bit in a dixie mouth rinse cup and throw it in his feed.
And I thought we were bad about that down here. We're supposed to hit 80 today, but mostly it's been in the 70s. It's supposed to get back down into the 60s for highs this weekend. :o(
Sounds like it, if the pain is in the arch of your foot. I get that when I wear shoes without a good arch support, but only on the right foot, which is weird. It makes me want to walk on the outside edge of that foot. The other pain I get when I stand up and walk is more or less in the balls of my feet, so I don't know if that's caused by the same thing or not. Getting old is (literally) a pain! ;o)
Oh, another thing, sounds to me like ecurbh needs to be massaging your feet, don't you think! ;o)
No, the pain is in the heel, like they say there: "The most common symptom of plantar fasciitis is heel pain. It is typically sharp or knifelike and usually occurs when a person gets up in the morning and takes the first few steps. The pain also occurs when the person stands up after sitting for a period of time."
I tried to get a foot rub last night... But his heart wasn't in it ;~D
LOL...can't say I blame him, I have a thing about feet, yuck. After about age 2, I don't even want to look at a persons feet, let alone touch them. I really dislike sandals. Older people should not be showing their feet around:)
No check book so far. I'm taking off on Rusty to see if it's out on trails. I know the last time I used it was right before I rode him last time. Maybe it was in my pocket and came out...
Farrier just left. We only had to do Rocky. The others had barely grown at all according to him. I think it's just he got them kind of short last time, which is OK by me and my checkbook (if I knew where it was at anyway:)

Wow - good luck and I do hope you find it!
Well, then that definately sounds like what you've got. The pain you have right now will go away, it's just like having a pulled ligament anywhere else. Then you may have to start getting real particular about getting good arch support in your shoes to keep it from coming back. I did, and you'd be amazed at the variability in that area among various brands of shoes. Some people have to have custom orthotics made. I haven't had to go that route yet, but a lady here at work has. I try to stick to Easy Spirit, SAS and New Balance shoes, they feel really good. Ariats do too, but they're really high. Otherwise, get some Dr. Scholls "Sport" insoles and put them in the shoes you already have. They have a big arch support, the others are just flat jell-type things.
I need to start with good shoes... Trouble is, they have to be good in mud too... I do half my work outside in slip on rubber boots without even a liner in them.
Oh well, the muddy season is nearly over I suppose, at least for awhile ;~D.
Good morning all. I'm taking it easy today! Worked too hard yest. cutting cedar. Except for running my mares a little in the round pen, it's rest day.
Timberland makes some good work boots. I've got a pair of steeltoed ones that I use here at work when I have to go out in the plant. They're heavy, but they have good support. I got them at a discount shoe store and they were actually men's shoes, but hey, I don't care as long as they fit reasonably well.
Fallen Arches maybe? Or a bone spur?
