Are you saying that the president should let her die when he has the power to keep her alive?
No, I'm saying that the POTUS [Bush, Clinton, any POTUS] has defined powers. I'm asking you to show us that an executive order in this situation is lawful. His executive order has to be lawful-- Bush is a president, after all, and not omnipotent. People are so emotional that they forget this.

Elian was a federal matter (immigration).

You can't have it both ways. If the courts are making the law up as they go along, then the rules have changed for them as well. A judge has decided to kill a human being with no more authority than the president has to keep her alive.

If the court has the right to twist our law and let her die, than the president can defend life as well. Presidents have flaunted our laws for evil, why not use his power for good?

This case is not [A Federal Matter]. The bill ...[is] a one time deal to allow a federal judge to consider if Terri has gotten "due process".

Sorry to break the news to you but that is a federal matter. It's the Due Process clause of the USC Amt 5, by way of USC Amt 14.

Nobody has decided to "kill" anybody. The judge has the motion under advisement

I am talking about the judge who ordered the tube removed.

Hate to be this judge, cause he's gonna be ridiculed no matter what he does.

I would disagree with you only in the description you used. I would not say "ridiculed", but rather "vilified".

Here's a link explaining the source and use of executive orders. Yes, the president can write one in this case. Starting with George Washington every president has issued executive orders.

I suggest we all begin calling, emailing and faxing the president urging him to do just this.

The sad truth is that in our government school system many of us have not learned history as we ought.

I voted for Bush. I support him wholeheartedly. But he has NOT done everything he can do - yet.

He breaks NO law if he writes an executive order.

Some here are giving up when there are still Constitutional options left.

A woman could die because of ignorance and lack of making calls to the president.

I know most of you people care deeply about this. Just think what impact it would have if thousands began contacting the president asking him to write an executive order to get Terri to a hospital while the judge contemplates the case!

Many here have done their utmost to make calls already and we're all tired. But there is still more we can do. Call, email or fax the president!! Call talk shows - get the word out! Tell people who don't understand that every president since Washington has issued executive orders and there is flexibility.

Thinking it is broken cause they have continuously ruled against you does not constitute an executive order IMO

Any system that will allow an innocent to die without any form of representation is broken.

If the President can pardon a turkey on Thanksgiving Day he can pardon Terry Schiavo.

He can save her and put her under his protection at the White House. I would dare anyone to try to starve her then.

Based upon Biblical teachings of who God/Jesus Christ are, I think our Lord expects us to do everything we can to preserve life.

Thinking that the probate-guardianship piece of the FL judicial system is worse than broke, try corrupt, means there is a bigger mess in FL than this case, but don't expect the Republicans or Democrats to fix it because it's bipartisan corruption.

He's just the kind of judge who should go far in our judiciary at this point in our history.

SR92 states: "Fortunately we don't live in a totalitarian state where the supreme leader can make the law whatever he wants it to be."

You've got it all turned around - and intentionally I'll bet.

Basically, you're saying a judge is free to make the law whatever he wants it to be making himself supreme leader - and that the president cannot make an executive order to give Terri help until the judge makes a decision.

Only a liberal would want a judge to be in charge over the other two branches.

Questions? Here are answers: http://www.heritage.org/Research/LegalIssues/LM2.cfm

executive order for this one person seems to circumvent all the checks and balances we have now

What checks and balances are there on the courts? Two legislatures and two executives have acted and been ignored by one local trial court judge. It is the reason we have Roe v. Wade and civil courts determining the disposition of terrorists captured on the battlefield - no fear of contradiction. This is the perfect case to establish that the Judicial Oligarchy is not necessarily the final word. They were last handed this lesson in 1831 by Andrew Jackson. They need to be humbled at least once a century or so to maintain balance.

...if you think the whole judicial system if broke in Florida, then we have a bigger mess than this case....

Well duh! Have you straightened out that homosexual marriage lisence thing in CA yet? What? the court said you can have a queer wedding but forget the concealed carry lisence? And by the way, Algore really won.
