My 10 year old son has gotten bad about running around in public places, and then he gets his sisters involved.
Of course, mom is around to stop the behavior. However, I have to keep a constant eye on them.
My 10 year old has gotten worse this year with being hyper, and I'm hoping he grows out of it soon.
I will say in his defense. He has been complaining about kids cussing at school. The Christian school he went to was bad in 2nd grade, and now the public school has gotten bad in 5th grade. I think I'm mentioning it to the principal.
That's another manners thing. I see kids cussing in front of their parents, and the parents do nothing except maybe cuss right back at them.
Cussing is totally frowned upon in this house.......even saying the word "damn" gets a quarter fine. Both Mom and Dad occassionally slip........and so the yung'un's piggy bank grows. But she gets hit with the same fine if she tells the dog to "shut up" as that is also not an acceptable phrase.
It's also an excellent teaching tool in regard to money....if she has to give me a quarter because she broke a language rule, she knows she won't have that quarter for the machine coming out of the supermarket - but she will if she either catches me, or doesn't do it herself. She's real quick to try and catch mommy or daddy.
Parents often send their problem kids to Christian school, according to my sister who used to teach at one. They can be worse than public schools!
