Man killed while riding new motorcycle home from shop

A Montgomery County (TX) man is dead after crashing his brand-new motorcycle on the way home.

Police say the man was returning from the bike shop around 10:30 Monday night, when he lost control on a curve on FM 2090 near Daw Collins and slid into the path of an oncoming car. The driver was thrown into a ditch and died instantly. The other driver was not injured.

His brother had taken him to the bike shop and was following behind in a car when the wreck happened.

Police say it’s the second-time in two days Montgomery County motorcycle riders have been killed while driving their new cycles home.

DON"T "Armor All" the seat!

Armor-all'ed seat + Brembo brakes = Big time "OUCH!!!"

What's the point?

Yea, why travel in a Town Car when a Pinto Wagon will do?

When I got my first bike, over 20 years ago, the shop made me ride a moped in the parking lot for an hour, then they made me ride a 250 for an hour before they would let me leave the lot with my new bike. I though it was funny at the time, but they said they wanted to make sure I could ride before they let me on the road.

I wish the shop had done that for the son of one of my friends last year before allowing him to take more bike than he knew how to handle for a test drive.

He leaned his body right into a car stopped at the red light while turning at an intersection. He died instantly at the scene.

Not a good analogy. It's not the luxury I don't understand, it's the enclosure. I don't get how the enclosure of a Wing or an Ultra doesn't detract from the experience.

I'll be 75 this coming October and riding a bike is as much fun as it ever was. ;)

Any sport riders here?

This is my new ride:

I figure I might as well have fun on one of these while I'm still young enough to bounce well; not to mention we just got a new 3 mile road course in town.
