You sure called that one. Since the "risk" factor wasn't such a risk at all, it does sort of reduce the "awe" factor.

Since I'm not a Bo fan, that was the only song he did that I liked. I still liked it, but you're right, if he's done it before then he didn't really take any chances by doing it.

That will be sort of different. Have they ever done that sort of thing before?

On a side note, one night a couple of years ago, my telephone rang and a man asked to speak to my daughter who was only 15 at the time.

I asked who it was of course and it was Joe Don Rooney of Rascal Flatts. A friend of my daughter's was backstage with them since her mom was a music producer or something. Anyway, the friend asked Joe Don if he would call Rachel and he did.

Rachel didn't hardly sleep at all that night, she was so excited.

Somehow I think Carrie will be more nervous than Bo. This should be a great show.

I don't think that's what he's saying at all. The big deal was all about the "risk" he took by singing a capella. If he has done it before, then it wasn't a risk.

I'm not a Bo fan at all, but I still liked that song. It was the only one of his songs that I cared for, but that's just my tastes in music.

But I'm no longer impressed that he took a big "risk" because he didn't. That's all. Everything Bo sings sounds the same to me. That one didn't, but it wasn't a risk for him at all.

I have a different opinion of Bo, but that might be in large part because I don't like his style of music.

It all sounds the same to me. Do you think that in a couple of years people won't be tired of the long haired rocker? I mean, they all seem to look the same for the most part and lots of those old rockers look a bit like silly old men to me.

So I imagine Bo two years from now looking exactly the same, still carting that microphone stand around and singing the same sort of songs.

So, this is an honest question for you or anyone here. Do you really think Bo has any room to grow at all?

When I think of ANY of the other contestants, I can imagine growth and change. Even for Constantine. But Bo just seems a bit stagnant to me.

I'd enjoy the input from you guys about this.

that's just my tastes

Exactly, and more power to you.

Bo suits my view of America.
Gritty, strong, hard working. Stands on it's own
without needing noisy backup.

What's wrong with a work in progress? My favorite thing about American Idol is watching them all learn, grow and change through out the show and later as they try to develop a career.

If Bo really has as much talent as you guys seem to think, how come he hasn't gotten any further by now?

If he's ready for the big time, then why would he need AI?

I don't hate Bo or anything and I sincerely wish him well. He just does nothing for me, so I don't understand everyone's love for Bo. But I would like to understand. :-)

It will be interesting to see how the careers of the two of them compare a decade from now. :-)

The Fox station in Boston reports that Carrie will sing "Independence Day" (yet, again-- to my great disappointment) and Bo will sing "Vehicle." They will also sing the new AI single and each will sing a new song of their genre/voice (rock for Bo, I guess, and country for Carrie) that was written for them.

The rumor is that part of the reason why Carrie chose "Independence Day" again (in Hollywood, in the Top 10, on the AI: Showstoppers CD, and now the finale) is because she couldn't do "Alone," since the main back-up singer she worked with earlier in the show on that song is sick. I hope this is the reason, because, IMO, choosing this song could single-handedly give this to Bo on a silver platter, which isn't the way Bo should win.

I think that Bo's shelf life is shorter because he's already old-- turns 30 in November. Carrie just now turned 22 (in March). I think that should definitely be a concern for the money-men behind the show. Why invest all this money and time into a guy who will be going down the hill of his prime by the time the next season of AI starts up? I'd think they'd want a person they can really milk for years.

Did Bo already do Vehicle also? I get confused about those rock songs.

Thanks for your thoughts on Bo. That's sort of the way I feel about it. It just doesn't seem like he has as much long term viability as Carrie might have.

I know Carrie needs lots of work, but she can learn. It seems like she has more potential while Bo is a known entity.

...shelf life... milk ...

Udderly ridiculous.

Bo has as much staying power as the
tried and true songs he sings,
which will be around longer than you or I will.

"choosing this song could single-handedly give this to Bo on a silver platter, which isn't the way Bo should win."

Why do you think this would help Bo so much? I agree that "Alone" was a great song for her, but what's wrong with "Independence Day'?

As for their futures and who will be more successful, unfortunatley I think it all comes down to MTV. Which one has a better face & body/ who can make a steamier video? For example, can anyone honestly say they'd enjoy watching a Ruben Studdard video over a Kelly Clarkson video? I realize this is not about image/looks, but ultimately that is an important part of the package, and Carrie has that locked up.

That being said, I'm just happy that one of them will win and not Vonzelle or Constantine. Either way, I go home a winner. :)

Yes, he did. They have to do a song they've sung before. The problem is that Carrie has overexposed her song. Bo's can still sound fresh.

Two reasons: Martina does it better (duh, I suppose) and she sounds bad in comparison; Overexposure: people are sick of it-- it's even on the AI CD.

Just curious ... is anyone else sitting on the fence about who to vote for tomorrow night?

I have had my favorites throughout the competition, but I have chosen who to vote for each night on the strength of that night's performances. I think both Bo and Carrie have great potential as performers, though in different ways. Tomorrow night I have to go to a meeting and won't be able to watch the show live. With Tivo, that's not a big deal -- I will still get home in time to watch the show and vote, by zapping all the thousands of commercials. :)

But it occurred to me that I might have a technical malfunction and not actually see the show. (This nearly happened with the Preakness this weekend -- I was recording it, but flipped it on for a moment out of idle curiosity and found that the screen was blank! Eek! Still don't know what happened there. I got it going just in time to see Afleet Alex nearly take a tumble.) Anyway ... I was trying to decide who I would vote for if I couldn't actually see the show? I guess I really am a fence-sitter, since I don't have an answer yet!

So if you couldn't see the show, who would you vote for right now?
