How cool would that be? To be able to say you were famous enough to be impersonated on SNL?

Hmmm...that's a hard one to answer. :-)

Whoever wins, AI will adapt to the winner. Bo's CD will be Rock, Carrie's will be Country

Hmmmm, never thought of it that way! That's probably the answer. Thanks.

I'd probably need to join a twelve step program to be able to do it anyway. :-)

I had forgotten all about World Idol! Did they just do it that one time or did I miss the others?

Thanks for the link, he sounds great. You know, this just proves Simon wrong about people like this guy and Scott Savol.

There's a place for everyone even if they aren't the "pretty ones".

Iraqi Idol is supposed to be starting soon. It's too bad we won't be able to watch that one.

Oh holy crap! LOL! Can't even imagine that! What are they going sing? Every song would have to include an Allah reference.

I just now went to the John Stevens site and you're right, it sounds like it's going to be just great. I signed up for email messages so that I won't forget to buy it when it comes out.

Did you watch the video? I love what he did with the Maroon 5 song. That opens up a lot more music possibilities for him if he can do that with other songs and he'll gain more fans. Somewhat younger fans.

It looks like his record company is looking after him really well. I'm glad to see it.

LOL! Yes, I would imagine there is an obligatory Allah reference in each one. Believe it or not, they are in their second season. They started it in Mosul, in that TV station that General Petraeus started. Apparently they call it MTV. (Mosul TV) But Idol is not the only show they are copying. I just found this.

Reality TV hits home in Baghdad

It's the Iraqi version of Extreme Home Makeover. Of course, it appears that the coalition forces are the destruction crew in this one, so I wonder if it is anti-American, or just a TV show.

They've also got the Iraqi version of Cops. That one's called Iraqi Justice or something like that isn't it?

Didn't know there would be a thread tonight. It was band practice night so I didn't see any TV.

But I had to chime in on a few things.

1) Scooter girl rocks!
2) Opera Girl had an outstanding voice. Too bad she didn't make it into the top 20. (10 guys, 10 girls)

3) Someone was commenting about Bo singing rock and Carrie singing country. Those are pretty much stereo-types of their styles, but both have shown that can sing most styles.
Carrie's best tune was the Rock ballad by Heart, "Alone."
Bo did the song last night without the band and that wasn't as well as the Elton John song which showed me that he wasn't just a rock band front man type.
Besides, even if you call him a rocker (which he is in spirit), what's wrong with having an American Idol rocker?
Isn't "rock" an American music? Fantasia, Ruben and Kelly are anything BUT rock. That makes this year better as far as I'm concerned.
Just my 2 cents...

I wasn't exaggerating when I said this is the best episode of CSI I've ever seen--WOW

OMG... that was awesome.
I'm still itching from those red ants...
thought sure Tarantino would knock off Nick.

The "big heart" scene was no comfort...
just like T to makes us laugh, then POW.

Thanks for not spilling the beans =^)

The French are so stuffy, I wonder how popular that show is.

To outsiders, the French are stuffy. When it comes right down to it though, they are as crass and crude as the rest of us, if not more.

I plan to go to the AI concert. Is anyone else thinking about going or am I the only dork? :-)

Remember, if you go to the concert, you will have to be exposed to Mikayla again...

It was the only one. Kelly Clarkson (the US representative) lost so they didn't see the point anymore.

The audio clips of the CD are interesting, because she sounds good on her God Bless the Child song.

rampage8,

I should have given you the following link, which is where the info starts, instead of with texasflower's post a couple of pages before the thread I'm linking here. You probably clicked on it and wondered where the info was:

More on the Carrie-Anthony courtship from a girl posting at prospero's foxidol message board...

This actually seems like a fairly decent source. She has pics from being backstage and everything.

Well I went to Idol again last night. This was my 3rd time going. My mom was negotiating with this guy from ebay for like 3 days trying to get him to meet her price...so we went to LA, called the guy, and he said to shop around for a while and he would let us know at 5:00. So we shopped at the Grove , he called at 5 and said to meet him in the Idol parking lot. So we did, he gave us a parking pass then told us that for how much money we had he could only give us backstage passes...no tickets . So we took it. Because backstage is way better than the show anyways. So while we were backstage I saw Randy, Latoya London, and Matt Rogers (previous Idol contestants). I didn't talk to them though. So then we went into this room with food and couches and TV moniters and we asked the guy in there if we could watch the show off the moniters since we didn't have tickets to get inside, and he said sure. Then we walked away for a second, he came up to us, and said "Here you can have these" And he gave us his tickets ! So we got to watch the show It was awesome. Watching Bo sing a capella was amazing . And it was so sad to see Vonzell go, but she sounded awesome. And after the show she gave a really nice speech to the audience, thanking them for the support, and she said "God is so good". Then they taped the "coin toss" for next weeks show to see who performs first. It landed on Carrie so she got to choose the order for the final show. She picked that Bo would sing first. Then we finally got backstage.

Latoya came out first so I took a picture with her and she told me her cd would be out in September. Then Vonzell came out. She is so beautiful!!!!!! And she is so friendly!! Her personality is by far the best. But anyways...I took a picture with her and she told me I'm beautiful. Then my mom was talking to her for a while. Then Carrie and Anthony walked out together . He was holding her bags and they were acting kinda flirty. She called him " Anthy bear " :-\. Anyways, I took pictures with each of them and they both remembered me . Then I saw Bo . I told him he's going to win. And he said how he wouldn't be here if it weren't for the fans. Me and my mom took pictures with him and it was pretty cool. He's such a genuine guy."

And, another separate confirmation from a girl on msn's boards:

It was crazy there tonight, limo's EVERYWHERE. The judges had left really early for NY. Security was REALLY blocking off the area the judges would have come out of anyway, there was no way to stand anywhere near there.

We saw this guy that I sorta know (not from Idol) so he started talking to us. He got to know Paula pretty well at the playstation thing and is still keeping in touch with her because Paula wants to take him and his sister out to dinner. So we were asking him about everything that's going on and he said that she's fine and she's kinda like, "Whatever...." Everyone's been really supportive. I asked him specifically about the producers and he said they're supporting her a lot, and he even mentioned Nigel specifically, so that's good.

We ended up talking to and getting autographs and pictures with Bo, Vonzell, LaToya, Carrie, Nikko.

Oh, Carrie and Anthony were walking out together and talking the whole time as they were doing autographs and stuff. Just seemed really close, lovey-dovey feel almost.

And they chose matching American Red Cross t-shirts...

Oh, and I got confirmation that Carrie broke up with her pre-AI boyfriend, Drake Clark, the week of April 28th.

He took a song like My Funny Valentine, a song we have all heard a zillion arrangements of and made it new again.

I missed that! Darn. I actually missed most of this season (this is the first season I've watched more than one or two shows). The first show I saw this season was the one where Mikayla left, so anything before that is a mystery to me.

When I said that Constantine chose boring songs, I really meant the very last one before he got voted off. I can't remember what it was now (never having heard it before) but it had a limited range and the refrain just repeated over and over, without even an opportunity for a "big finish" (which you'd darned better have if you're going to sing an otherwise pedestrian song!). By contrast, I thought his Bohemian Rhapsody was just short of brilliant. (I know some folks here got a little bent about the tongue thing, but that seemed to me like just an excess of high spirits, not incipient Charles Manson-ism.)

So I misspoke. Connie had one boring song. But that's all it takes.
