Some of these "anti-idol" and "vote for the worst" type groups like "votefortheworst.com" are taking their toll on the overall breakdown of the vote.
Someone posted earlier that the members on VFTW are low, but let's not forget that these folks are the ones with the computer phones and text messages who get through at a much higher volume than us "normal folks." Most are student-dope-smoking-FM-types with nothing better to do than hit the redial button.

Here's the latest AOL breakdown.
Looks like Anthony's starting to come up since last night as well as Bo and Carrie are now in a tie.
Bo - 35%
Carrie - 35%
Anthony - 17%
Vonzell - 11%
Slingblade - 3%
When the series started out, they were pretty accurate, but now they're bottom 3 have been way off.

The original set up was that they had 4 sets of 8 and America chose 2 out of each group to go to the finals and then they had a wildcard made up of some of the remaining 24 where 4 more were chosen (3 by the judges, 1 by America).

Thank you so very much. Your post explains a lot! Did they use that same format in season two?

No one gets a reprieve once the finals begin.

As it should be.

Well, it was interesting that George Huff was in the Top 5 of the finals after not even being good enough for the Top 32.

Nikko lasted several weeks after his return. That's part of why I think people vote on each weeks performance instead of a compiled history.

I never understood why Simon chose Carmen. She was horrible to me. Of course, I am not in his business, so I guess I just know nothing.

I wonder if Anwar's fan base has switched over to Anthony?

Thanks for that article. I had used to work 3-11pm so I only got to see the first 2 seasons in bits and peices. I didn't realize that George Huff wasn't in the top 32. Shows you how observant I am. LOL

I really liked George. His version of Sittin' on the Dock of the Bay was wonderful.

I wasn't on line last night, but holy schnikies! When Seacrest announced it was Lt. Dan I did what I call the "old lady gasp and chest grab" (huge gasp while placing my hand over my heart).

Mr. RK and I just stared at each other. We couldn't believe it! We both thought for sure Anthony was going home when it was he and Lt. Dan up there. I did find it a tad ironic that last night he actually looked quasi-clean. Maybe it was the crisp white shirt.

I do like Anthony. Simon seems incredibly hard on him.

Oh and Paula--WTF?? Sobbing! Sobbing!! It really is not that serious.

Good day, jonny. Firt off, I have to pause and thank you for starting this thread and keeping it going. It's one of the most entertaining and enjoyable threads ever on FR, in my opinion.

Time zone differences make it difficult for me to be on the thread when it's live, but that's OK. I enjoy coming to it each morning after the shows and seeing what everyone else had to say.

So. Lt. Dan is done. While I'm surprised, I'm not shocked at all. He doesn't seem to know his own strengths musically. Most importantly, as I said the other day, he simply can't out-rock Bo, who is an authentic rocker. One of them was going to have to go before the other. I'm only surprised Constantine didn't even make the top five, let alone the top three as most of us expected.

As for Scott being in the top three last night, that's more shocking that Lt. Dan being voted off. Even so, we should all bear in mind that there are literally millions more people out there who identify with Scott, the underdog from a hard-knock background, simply because their lives are somewhat comparable to his.

Simon was on the Good Day L.A. program this morning, and he said that after reviewing the tapes of this week's performances, he saw something in Scott's performance that he didn't notice watching it live. Using my own words, I'll try to capture what Simon was getting at. There's an almost plaintive quality to Scott's singing. He appeals to the audience to look past his unattractive exterior to the person inside. Apparently, this is touching a chord in millions of people. Americans have a long history of loving the underdog.

Simon also repeated what he said on the show last night -- that anyone who got that many votes deserves to be there no matter what the judges or critics say.

As for Paula, what is up with her? Her over-the-top reaction last night just feeds the rumors that she is, shall we say, too close to some of the contestants.

I don't believe that stuff about Paula. Her tears and emotion were valid last night, and she reflected what many in the audience felt. Did you hear the booing after Ryan told Constantine he had to go home?

Constantine did not deserve to be at the bottom last night. He has a marvelous stage presence, and while his voice is not ultra-superior, it is very pleasant. His manner is easy and laid-back: he never once showed anger towards the judges, as Scott does every week.

Of all of this years's crop, I think Constantine will go farthest in show biz...whether as the new romance novel coverboy (like Fabio); as a rocker with his own band; or as a featured actor on a popular soap or on a FOX teen series like the OC...Constantine will go far.

Anwar's fans probably switched to either Vonzell or Anthony.
I can't seem them going for the "rockers."

The big question is: Who will Lt. Dan's fan's go to?

I would guess they would split between Bo, the other "rocker," and Anthony, the other "teeny bopper heart-throb." But some "spite" votes will probably go to Scotty the Potty.

There is some scuttlebutt about Bo on Drudge's site. I haven't checked it out yet but have heard about it. If I can I will post here.

You know you could be right! Con's hoping they'll boot Bo so he can make a grand comeback. I hope Bo doesn't get booted I really like him. Constantine just didn't do anything for me, well, except for the repulsion thing. But other than that he just didnt do anything for me.
