They haven't been. They have been doing the song from the previous night. As far as I know, this is the first time that they got to pick what they wanted to sing. And usually it is just the leaving person that gets to sing.
I always thought it was insane to have the leaving person sing the same song that got them booted off to begin with! And have them do it when they may be emotional.
Thanks... I'm not sure why the image isn't showing... my webserver must be flaking out. The link goes to the hospital site just fine, though...
That backs up my theory, that there's an army of teenage boys voting non-stop for the candidates that most of us would consider substandard, doing it just to be pukey, haha look who we're keeping in.
The solution would be to limit one phone call from the same phone line per performer....but Am Idol would never do that, they want to generate income for the phone conglomerates. So we end up with someone that many of us cannot stand.
Congratulations on your adorable idol!
Does he sing yet?
"I always thought it was insane to have the leaving person sing the same song that got them booted off to begin with!"
I've said the same thing. It's almost cruel and unusual punishment. And sometimes, like in the case of Mikalah, it was punishment for the viewers.
Ewwwwwwwwww....
He seems to have excellent lung capacity and projection, at the very least.

After tonight, I think you may be right!
No wonder Fantasia won last year! It's all making sense now.
Yeah, I think the "Frohawk" was the beginning of the end for my dear Nadia. She had big-time mo going into that week, but blew all her capital on that look and that song. Too bad, because I'm crazy about her. I'm already checking the club scene here in the ATL waiting for her appearance...
I'm not a fan of Richard Dreyfuss (he's an arrogant little liberal), but he's perfect in this movie. That scene where he has Bob committed, then returns a short time later to find the staff being entertained by Bob is hilarious!
Triple punishment. Wasn't that the week that they messed up the numbers and we had to listen to her THREE times? Ugh!
By the way. Any thoughts out there on what happened that week with the wrong contestant numbers being in place?
I can see the picture fine.
"What About Bob?" is one of my favorite films. I love the nasty elderly couple in the boat screaming, "Burn, burn!" as Richard Dreyfuss' house burns down.
It probably won't be for a while yet. The top ten are locked into an AI contract for the next several months.
I think the two who survive and get to sing their song have a little edge going into next week. They get showcased again where the others don't and they get to remind people of when they sang their best song. Too bad for Nadia, she is awesome on that old Dusty Springfield tune and looks so good singing it. To have her shine so bright in defeat while Hall AND Oates stands by as a survivor made me sick.
So it's on my end, hmmm? If you click the picture, you'll get a different photo from the hospital nursery.
But, no time to diagnose networking issues... I have to run off and get some sleep (while I can)!
And the "Turrette's"(sp?) which brought Dr. Marvin's boy out
of his shell...
Great funny fun flick.
Altogether, let's say "AWWWW! How sweet!"
Seriously, he's a bootiful baby!
This is my first year watching AI, because of BO. I thought I would never stoop to actually calling.
But after tonite, I will.
Congrats on your beautiful son. May Danny Boy e'er roam the fields.
