COLUMBUS, Ohio -- A 4-year-old girl was hit in the head by a puck at an Ohio State hockey game on Saturday night and taken to a hospital for stitches, officials said.
The girl was treated at Children's Hospital and released, a nursing supervisor said Sunday. She did not have details of the girl's injury.
Ohio State lost to Ferris State 1-0 in overtime in the Central Collegiate Hockey Association playoff game at Value City Arena.
Three years ago, 13-year-old Brittanie Cecil died after being hit in the head by a puck while watching a Columbus Blue Jackets game at Nationwide Arena.
Her death led the National Hockey League to require safety nets in its arenas. The league and other defendants also settled a lawsuit with the girl's family for $1.2 million.
Safety nets are not required in college arenas.
Don't be surprised if the ambulance chasers are out to get Ohio State on this one.
I really like going to Ohio State Hockey games. The program is doing well. Fans are showing up and going to the games are a bargain. It is great for families as well.
I would like to hear Don Rickles comment on this...
Kid should have ducked.
