I apologize for the size of the images above though they are small files, 90k and 280k respectively. I thought it best to present the images rather than links to them.
Is this whole thing just my paranoia or is it Microsoft who is paranoid?

Are you sure it wasn't being blocked by the anti-virus software?

I download firefox and no one blocked it out.
To do so, right now for Microsoft, would not be a good idea with the abti-trust suits they are fighting or have fought.
Could be the way his system reads HTML tags or CSS.

It doesn't make sense.
I downloaded FF on my XP SP2 -- no problem.

Well, I've got SP2 loaded and the download for Firefox 1. 0.1 showed for me on the page. Sure is weird.

Works fine here, complete with green and blue boxes. And yes, I'm using SP-2, and have been since a few weeks after it was introduced.
Try adjusting your tinfoil hat-- it might be askew.

FYI...
I'm using WinXP SP2 also and I was able to see the green and blue boxes when I tried to use IE.

It's not evil on the part of Microsoft. The likely explanation is that the laptop is running some sort of content filtering software that blocks out the specific code Mozilla uses to display the DOWNLOAD NOW link.

Looks like a stylesheet issue... I was able to download Firefox on machines with XP Home SP2 -- just click on the link "make the switch today".
