Need Vet advice on sick freeper kitty.
Prayers for your tiny kitty going up. Every time I have my oldest cat vaccinated, he gets sick, has a fever and hides under the bed for at least three days. I call the vet each time and am told that it has nothing to do with the vaccines, although, I've never been sure. Please let us know how the kitty is doing, hugs to you.
[Freepmail me to get on or off the Kitty Ping List.]
Oh gee.......prayers for the poor kitty and the owner.
I'm so sorry to hear about your kitty. Our "cat" is 7 years old and 20 lbs. Ditto had a bad bladder problem a few years back and fortunately the vet on call that day was excellent. Prayers going up for you and your kitty
I am so sorry, and will keep the both of you in mind, and send good thoughts.
My heart aches for you.
I almost lost my JRT last year when she was in labor with only one puppy. Hang in there. JRTs do tend to become another "child" and I would (and did) whatever it took to make Gracie well again (including 3 days off from work).
I am so sorry about your kitty. Could your little 'girl' be eating something that is making her ill? Our cat (Norbert who is 12.5 years old) was extremely sick late last year with similar symptoms. Blood/urine tests came back with high liver numbers and "huge platelets". He was listless and staggering etc. The vet told us to prepare for the worst case... We had to take him in several times because he was so dehydrated etc. He threw up a lot of bile etc. and lost his bowels a few times. Anyway, it turned out he was eating a plant I had brought home from my sister's place, and that was making him sick. We had a lot of plants in the house for years with NO problems, until Norbert decided he liked the long stringy leaves on this particular plant. We took the plant out of the house and he's been better ever since. One thing we tried to hydrate Norbert was to feed him pedialyte with a dropper. It seemed to help him a bit. Prayers for your kitty! I hope she gets better soon. Keep us posted.
Agreeing in prayer for your kitty.
Prayers for little Casey and you. I pray God will restore Casey's health.
Prayers for your kitty, this has to be awful.
Please keep us informed.
How sad. I'm really sorry to hear about what you and Casey are going through. I've owned and loved cats for many years, so I can truly empathize with what you're likely feeling.
Hard to know if any of the meds (or the chemicals in the dewormer) kicked off an underlying problem, or caused one. Seems the older my cats are, the more sensitive they are to chemicals. Just like people, eh?
At this point, it sounds as though the most important issue is that Casey get a lot of supportive care, which you're providing. I vote that you take good care of yourself, and that you work on spoiling Casey rotten. Love can heal too, yes?
Prayers for all of you. And please keep us posted. Thanks.
Blessings to you and the late Miss Muffin! You certainly did a beautiful job taking care of her. She certainly was a beautiful girl.
Once had a young cat, Edgar, who went into severe renal failure at an early age, and we were only able to help him for 6 months. Muffin's two and a half year long survival sounds like a very long time. My compliments!
715pm cst
The vet said that Casey should do nothing but rest today, and around 7pm get her up and about. I have checked in on her every 30 mins and she changes positions (switching from right side to left and vice versa) and also moves 4-6 feet.
I got her up from under the bed and took her into her food. Sadly, as yesterday and today, she just looked at it and decided to lay down, too exhausted to even look at her food (science diet) and water.
I then put her in the litter box where she also collapsed, but I think she smelled the litter box and TRIED to upright herself. I helped her out and she had a good urination.
Then I took her downstairs to her favorite chair(s) and currently, have had her next to me on the couch while we both watch Fox News.
I couldnt believe what I just heard 5 mins ago and thought I would come up and tell you that even though she is exhausted and almost paralyzed with non-movement, she is actually PURRING....
I called my mom, and she told me that sometimes when cats are in pain they purr, which I HOPE is NOT the case. Anyways, her eyes are a little brighter laying next to me on the couch and she has a gentle, light purr going on.
Going back downstairs to give TLC. Will force feed nutri-cal and hydrate in an hour or so.
Will post soon
Thanks for the prayers, I think they are working! (dont they always though?)
Thanks for the prayers, keep them up! They seem to be working!
Chris
I didn't know you could rehydrate at home. I kept having to run to the vet.
Poor kitty. You and your cat are in my prayers.
I hope that your tiny kitty pulls through! It is so hard to watch our babies suffer. I've had many, many kitties in my life, and had to bury more than I like to remember. I lost my beloved Minno when she was twelve. She seemed fine until she all of a sudden exhibited stroke like symptoms. Turned out she had bone cancer and it was severe by the time she showed signs of sickness. Now that my boy Sam is twelve, I watch him like a hawk. Good luck to you and your lap kitty!!! Sounds like you have a good vet.
If she's trying to move around that's a good sign. We had a cat get hit by a car about 5 years ago. She looked really bad. Couldn't move her hind end at all. Took her to the vet and the vet didn't think much of her chances. Silly damn cat wouldn't stay in the box I had fixed up for her. Drug herself around like that (not much though) for a few days. She's around the neighborhood somewhere right now. Even had another litter of kittens a few years ago. Cats are tough critters.

So I pray. May God bless and keep you both.
