I'm glad to hear that your kitty is doing better today. I think about her everytime I tend my own cats, and am praying for her.

I'm glad to read that Casey has had a better day.

Prayers are still up for her, your mom and you.

Jack.

Thank you kind stranger for your compassionate words.

The good ones always die young.

My other two are the most wilfull and imperious creatures I have ever been in the service of! It's gotta be love because I would never tolerate the same traits in a human being.

I understand the logic you employ in regards to food and medication. I shall try the steamed carrots and see if the girls approve.

Sorry about your Stormy.

Kindest Regards,

This may sound "out there", but try this. I worked as a massage therapist for years, and there is often healing power in one's hands that can heal pain and work wonders. If you can hold your hands on opposite places,* not necessarily even touching your cat but close, for some minutes. Especially over the organs that are having difficulty. Try at several opposite places.

I have helped many people with terrible pain this way; it may help. It encourages the healing power of the body. Try relaxing your hands while doing it, and relaxing your own mind and body. And, of course, praying inside at the same time.

*Meaning opposite places on your cat - like the right and left side, so your hands are facing each other with the cat in between.

Quick UPDATE: I have been neglecting work this week, so I put in a full day. I also have National Guard Drill this Weekend and have a business trip in Kansas City, MO on MON and TUE.

I am taking her to the vet for her 5th checkup at 5pm today (FRI 18 MAR 05) and stock up on heparin, dextrose, nutrical, k/d cat food, and kitty litter.

My mom is going to come by and take care of her while I am gone. I am going to try to get away SAT PM after lights-out to see if I can leave the barracks to check in on her.

Today, she seems a little brighter and better. Right now she is putting her paw on my monitor as I post on Free Republic. She is also trying to swat at the birds that come to the window feeder I have next to computer. She has gone to the bathroom twice, which makes me feel better, and I also let her out for an hour as she went to a nice, quiet place under a holly bush and slept.

I will post later tonight about her BUN, CREA, and ALT numbers.

Thanks again for the concerns and prayers.

Chris

Phew! Glad to hear she's feeling more chipper. I was worried when you didn't post an update yesterday.

My fat, spoiled cat has been exploring the back yard since the weather is warming up.

I'll second the "getting worried". So glad to hear Casey is taking an interest in birds. Good sign! Prayers still up :)

UPDATE:

Sorry guys, Im dead tired, and it has been a LONG week. I have to go to bed early to get up at 4am for Arkansas National Guard Drill. My Mom will take over tommorrow AM when she comes in around noon to force feed.

Ok, to recap: these are her past numbers:

FRIDAY, 12 MAR 05
BUN> 130, ALT 530, CREA 3.89, GLU 180, ALKP 65, RR=66, TBIC 1.65

MONDAY 14 MAR 05
BUN= >130, CREA=2.99, ALT = 320

WEDNESDAY 16 MAR 05
BUN=124, CREA-2.93, ALT=172

FRIDAY 18 MAR 05
BUN=94, CREA=2.86, ALT =104

Those numbers suprised the Vet, and said that was a good drop,esp in the BUN and ALT numbers....although still a little to high for his liking.

She was more alert and a little less lethargic today, yet she still just looks sick and tired. Her coat is kinda bad looking since she has no energy to lick herself. She is using the litterbox frequently since we are giving x2 doses of dextrose (100ml) AM and PM. She gained 1.5 pounds since last FRI when she went into shock. She is purring a little more today, but has been breathing heavily. VET put her on liquid amoxicilin just in case.

NOTE: I WILL NOT BE POSTING FOR A WHILE BECAUSE OF NATIONAL GUARD.

I will let you know something either SUN PM or TUE PM.

Again I will keep posting until she is "in the clear"...right now, she is in the right direction, but not out of the woods yet. Vet has set an appointment for WED next week, and thinks that we can move up the 48 hour checkups to 100hours now.

Thank you so very much for the prayers and advice.

Have a good pre-good Friday/Easter weekend!

Chris

I also let her out for an hour as she went to a nice, quiet place under a holly bush and slept. I'm relieved to learn that your Viking Kittie is getting better, as I'm sure you are too.

May I make a tiny suggestion? How about keeping her inside unti she's all better. In her weakend state, she would have a hard time defending herself if another animal pounced on her. My vets have always been adamant about keeping kitties indoors until they are purrrrrfectly healthy.

Gald to hear (see) that Casey is improving! And thanks for serving and protecting all of us!

I'll probably check in and bump thread so I don't lose track of it.

UPDATE:

I am reading my Mom's handwriting and it looks as if she is moving around a tad more (was observed making it upstairs on her own). Although this is good, Mom had alot of difficulty feeding her today, and thinks that she may be too bloated, or full of fluid. She looks like she feels better and a little more activity,but her stools are very hard and dark, and she strains when passing stools.

She is urinating 2-4 times a day, so we know that something is working.

Anyways, I have to hop in the car and travel to Kansas City, MO. I have to be in town for a sales meeting.

I will post late TUES PM

THANK YOU AGAIN for the continued thoughts, prayers, and advice!

Chris
