Well, I can see this was a mistake. After reading some of the responses to me, and posts in other threads, I regret the idea of coming here. For example; in an other thread, some lady was spilling her heart about an abortion, and people were questioning whether it was a true story or not. What is that all about? I didn't see her asking for anything, certainly not to be questioned about the veracity of her story. And what difference would that make anyway?

As for my thread, I just asked for help. It would be real easy to say "no", even easier to say nothing at all.

Am I some other poster that has been lurking? No. This is day one for me...not that you all will believe me any more than the abortion lady, but that's the facts.

And Drew, I can be as sanctimonious as I want. Whether you like it or not. If trying to shut down an anti-semitic and anti-Christian site is not your thing, fine, don't do it.

It was a mistake to make the post, especially as a brand new member. Assuming you're legit, here's the reason you're catching the flak. FR is a very well known conservative web site. Activism eminating from FR uncovered the false national guard documents. Because of FRs high profile, there are a large number of people who want to see it discredited. Every day, several people sign up and immediately post vanities. It is very common for individuals to come in, open accounts, post outrageous stuff, then use their own postings as examples of how dangerous and reactionary people on Free Republic are.

Your post easily falls into this category. Very few people on FR advocate trying to shut down another site. We want to expose some sites, discredit them, and reveal falsehoods.

However, it sounds like the whack jobs you're talking about are doing a pretty good job of that themselves. It's probably not worth the effort to try to take them down. They've probably got about five members who post to each other. If you see any sign of them plotting terrorist acts, etc., then it makes sense to contact the authorities. As far as a bunch of screwballs getting together and talking about how evil the Christians and Jews are, well, the Ethnic Studies Department at the University of Colorado has that market cornered already.

So without ever venturing here before you popped in out of nowhere and decided right off the bat to grace us with your presence and post a vanity thread calling for an engaged effort to shut down a site you happen to find offensive? Wow! Sign me up!

But we don't regret it. Having someone with a poor grasp of the meaning of words come on a privately owned forum and call for the shut down of another privately owned forum is high comedy.

Especially when you have no idea that you are repeatedly contradicting yourself.

What? I got news for you bubba, this site belongs to an individual who maintains the site and removes morons like you any time he sees fit. You obviously are not FReeper material. You think just because you are able to post an opinion everyone should drop what they are doing and pay attention to what you think is important.

 

I have read the replies to you and you just don't get it do you? Around here we pretty much defend the Constitution, no ifs ands or buts. The Internet so far is a free entity by all definitions of the word. You must not believe this. I suppose next you will want everyone to shut down a Catholic site because you are Protestant. Am I making any sense to you yet?

 

If after reading all of the opinions to this vanity of yours you still don't get it, might I suggest you Google the Democratic Underground. It most likely will be more to your liking. They pretty much agree with you about silencing anything they do not agree with.
