Cat Chopper ready to hit the road Motorcycle designed by Orange County Choppers will soon embark on tour
Tuesday, March 8, 2005
PEORIA - The Cat Chopper is completed and soon will go on tour for Caterpillar Inc.
The custom-built motorcycle, built by the Orange County Choppers, was unveiled last Friday to company employees at Caterpillar's building construction products division in Clayton, N.C.
The Discovery Channel episodes of American Chopper on which the Cat machine was built are scheduled to air at 9 p.m. April 4 and April 11.
Also, Caterpillar will launch a "Cat Chopper Tour" on May 1, with the machine appearing at more than 30 Caterpillar dealerships across the country.
On April 11, it will be unveiled to local Caterpillar employees and their families in a special premiere at O'Brien Field.
To get ideas on how to design the Cat Chopper, the stars of American Chopper toured a Caterpillar plant in East Peoria and then drove some machines at the company's demonstration center in Edwards on Jan. 7.
Some of the elements of Caterpillar machinery can be found on the Cat Chopper.

Fugly.
Needs ripper teeth in the back.
Fugly, but all CAT! I'm sure the company will love it, for promotions, advertising and such.
Personally, I like it.
What does the wheel in the front do?
Diesel?
Yer psychotic. For a theme bike, that's pretty tight.
American Chopper has to be one of the best shows on TV.
Not only do they build great bikes, but the interplay between the characters is a riot!
Mikey, however, is a lost cause. That boy needs help! ;-}
I saw the OCC Dixie Chopper bike at the Indiana State Fair last August. It was part of DC's exhibit in the "Made in Indiana" display. Having watched those episodes, it literally took my breath away when I turned the corner and there it was. Awesome bike!
Needs a t-shirt.... "If you can read this, Rachel Corrie fell off."
On you, feh also.
Now that'd be something.
Eh... sue me. I'm a big beefy kinda guy. I like big chunky looking bikes. As a practical bike? Oh heck no. Those guys don't make "practical" bikes. Go buy a Kawasaki if that is what you are looking for... ;-)
MUAHAHAHA
LOL!!!
I don't know, I watched one episode where he was assigned the all important task of installing the kick stand. Without that, the bike would fall flat on its side.......
