What Happened To Fox News

Posted on 03/07/2005 11:21:44 PM PST by OKIEDOC

I finally broke down today and wrote Fox a nasty email.

I can not take another heart sobbing story about a convicted excon and a child molesting pervert. Has Fox turned into the National Enquirer of cable?

How many ways can you tell a story and how many times does their loyal listeners have to put up with worthless entertainment news?

For the first time in months I found myself having to switch channels so as not to start sobbing all over again about poor Martha and Michael.

The world is going to hell in a hand basket and our beloved Fox is falling into the old CNN trap.

Maybe it is time for another news station that gives conservative news.

At least Bill O' got the message tonight. He declined to mention Martha and that was a relief.

You are not alone. I like FNC, but am also very tired of the non-stop Michael/Martha tabloid junk.

TCM, Seinfeld on FOX and TBS, and C-SPAN is all I need.

The 24/7 cables suck (except for "Imus in the Morning" on MSNBC)..

Rupert is a complete ASS! In an effort to garner more audience he is throwing away the audience he gained by being the only rational and semi-unbiased news org. I watch Brit and that's it.

FoxNews has turned to crap! What follows is an email I sent yesterday afternoon to their General Comments address:

I just don't know what has happened to you people.

I discovered Fox News in the runup to the 2000 election, and have stuck by you faithfully ever since. The "We Report, You Decide" mantra really hits home for me. I like to be presented with the facts from which I can come to my own conclusion.

However, Fox News has started down a dangerous road: Endless "celebrity" pap like Michael Jackson and Martha Stewart (Scott Peterson and Robert Blake before them.) and rampant punditry masquerading as "news". Now, I watch Cavuto and Special Report - and ocassionally Studio B and the Big Story. The rest: the Hannity and Colmes shoutfest, O'Reilly's bag of hot air, Gretta's all-criminals-all-the-time, and that insipid garbage you call Fox and Friends; all have become unwatchable.

Get with it Fox! Cut the number of pundits and spinmeisters per hour. Update the "celebrity" news briefly, and continue on with News we can use!

Failure to do so will likely see you go the way the other networks have gone - the way of the dodo bird. At best, you will lose market share to another startup news organization, much the same way the Big Three lost market share to you.

Choose, but choose wisely.

Address

It's MARTHA'S big media "comeback". lol! It makes me sick to hear that overrated phony try to make us think that she has changed. She is the same Martha who lied to an FBI agent and stole recipes from others and called them her own. She doesn't do any of the things she wants people to think she does. She doesn't do her own gardening, cooking, repairs, crafts, etc. She has a ton of people who do that. The only thing Martha is good at is p.r.

The other day the Fox reporter even said that Martha's "homemade" hot cocoa was AWFUL. The only thing any good was the marshmallows which she didn't claim to make. lol!

As far as Michael Jackson, he is guilty as sin, IMO, but I doubt he will ever be found guilty by the jury. I don't know many people who have sex with mannequins, do you? I have to admit Jackson's trial is a little more interesting to me than Martha Stewart. But it all does get old when there isn't any new information.

I have your answer:

Step away from the television...
Diversify... Read a book, maybe?

Those endless commercials do not interrupt FOX programming for entertainment purposes only.

FOX has to pay the bills. (ppssst...entertainers demand big $$$$$$)

Pick out the shows you like... then, turn off the tube.

Mr Snow will be back soon! (per our prayers)

We have major problems in South America.

The Venezuelan Maniac Chavez is threatening to harm our way of life by cutting oil and Fox does not tell us.

I don't like the idea of Chris Matthews and Hardball giving me more news than Fox.

I received an answer from from a Fox staffer named Brian and he wasn't real pleased with the way I told them about my displeasure.

I reminded Fox that I switched to them when CNN would not quit doing the same types of news stories aimed at liberal Airheads and Teeny Poppers.

I think that Fox may have to go through a ratings plunge before getting back in the grove.

I usually keep two televisions tuned to Fox in the office. Today however, they were switched to MSNBC during the M&M hype.

Someone in the office wondered if Fox was being paid to hype Martha's new personality.

I wonder if the Pope really is considering her for Saint Hood due to her miraculous change to the good side.

Yep. I had given up on ALL network TV news, including CNN. I would watch the top-of-hour headlines on CNN/HN. Then, even THAT got to be too much pap and no substance.

Fox News was like a breath of fresh air! But sadly, no longer.

I'll stick to the internet for my news. Fox has slid into the same tired shtick as all the others.

I don't get it either, if this trial stuff is so popular with American can't they find some format to deliver it to people that doesn't replace our National News? I don't have anything against Martha, but what kind of decorations she made in the jail isn't at the top of my list of great questions in life. When she was released they had a swarm of helicopters following her car in the middle of the night and all the big media showing a live picture of a little car driving along a very dark road. Now they've got guys outside her house using the best technology made to try and snap a picture of her eating or watering her plants or something. I just don't friggin get it, and if I start getting it I'll know it's time to smoke a joint and walk into the ocean cause I'll have fried my brain from too much "news".

Has Fox turned into the National Enquirer of cable?

Unquestionably.

Anyone know a news station that isn't to the left of Marx and isn't saturated with tabloidism? Looks like a new market is opening.

Same here.

I can't remember the last time I looked at any network news to follow a breaking story. Fox used to be different from the knee-jerk liberal alphabet-soup network news, but they have slipped into the airhead-mode of endless, breathless headlines and crawlers about stuff the average person could not care less about.

FNC has already lost me as a viewer. I used to be a very regular audience member, now I can't stand it at all. I don't see what's so hard about delivering actual, relevant, news! FNC has turned into the 24-hour Entertainment Tonight channel.
