But!
I got to see the sunrise over the *beautiful* Tularosa basin. *sigh* What a rare treat.
I got to see the biggest jackrabbit I have *ever* seen. I thought it was a coyote at first... but it was bigger than a coyote. And coyotes don't hop. Definately a jackrabbit. HUGE! (Must be a local Trinity-site subspecies...)
And I got to see a *huge* family of oryxes cross the road just in front of me. Lots of wittle baby oryxses... "little" is relative, of course.
I got to see the U.S. Army kick *** .
We finished our work early, so I get to go home early! Wahoo!
I came back to the hotel exhausted so for dinner I went back to that little Mom-n-pop Mex food place that I visited Monday nite. I called ahead then and left my name for a table. When I got there they said, "You must be Ms. 'Freeper!" I said, "Yeah!" and had a great dinner. First class service - sweet people. So I show up sunburnt and tired this evening and my waiter from Monday said, "Ms. 'Freeper! You came back!" I said, "You betcha!" and had a great dinner.
So if you're ever in Las Cruces, eat at El Comedor in Old Mesilla....
We saw HUGH jackrabbits in AZ too! And I ~did~ think they ran like a coyote! And could maybe be a fair match for one in a fight they were so big ;~D
I've heard how beautiful New Mexico is, in a wind-swept desert kinda way.
If I ever make it there, I'll remember to stop by The Dining Room in Old Mesilla. *wink*
Maybe it was a Great Western Jackelope...
Report, please. Unless it's classfied.
