The Hobbit Hole XX - And take the hidden paths that run...
The Freeper Hobbit Hole ^

Posted on 03/05/2005 11:51:13 AM PST by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

And take the hidden paths that run...

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

They killed ALL your chickens???

That is my biggest nightmare...that a dog will get into the back yard. The chickens wouldn't even have a way to escape.

Oh and our new neighbors (that bought the house from the people that had the golden retriever I rescued) have a dachsund and a great dane.

My apologies!

no, they only got one, which is a blessing... if'n they had killed 'em all, I would have marched over there and summarily executed the beasts right in front of 'em...

I wouldn't worry about the Great Dane... the dachsund, on the other hand...

Yep. She's planning on opening a dog grooming business. I'm so thrilled.

I'm not gonna put up with a bunch of traffic zooming around. I'm just not. If they've got a parking lot in front of their house, I'm calling the city. There are zoning laws. It's why the lesbians weren't allowed to start their daycare in their house (and I mean a full blown daycare center, not an in-home daycare.)

If it's a quite little home business, I won't mind. But you know what I mean. Who'd wanna buy my house with a business next door???

They're covering the tall and the short of it.

I was hungry a bit ago, pulled out a ham and cheese hot pocket from the freezer, put it on a plate, and put it in the microwave... or so I thought.

Went back a couple minutes later, no hot pocket in the microwave.

It was in the freezer... on the plate. :~D

I thought this was Weird Al when I heard it, but apparently it's by a band called "Bowling for Soup".

1985

Debbie just hit the wall
She never had it all
One Prozac a day
Husbands a CPA
Her dreams went out the door
When she turned twenty four
Only been with one man
What happened to her plan?

She was gonna be an actress
She was gonna be a star
She was gonna shake her *ss
On the hood of White Snake’s car
Her yellow SUV
is now the enemy
Looks at her average life
And nothing has been alright

since Springstein, Madonna
Way before Nirvana
There was U2 and Blondie
And music still on MTV
Her two kids in high school
They tell her that she’s uncool
But she's still preoccupied
With 19, 19, 1985

She's seen all the classics
She knows every line
Breakfast Club, Pretty in Pink
Even Saint Elmo's Fire
She rocked out to Wham
Not a big Limp Bizkit fan
Thought she’d get a hand
On a member of Duran Duran

Where’s the mini-skirt
made of snake skin
And who’s the other guy singing in Van Halen
When did reality
become T.V.
Whatever happened to sitcoms, game shows
(on the radio there was)

Springstein, Madonna
Way before Nirvana
There was U2 and Blondie
And music still on MTV
Her two kids in high school
They tell her that she’s uncool
'cause she's still preoccupied
With 19, 19, 1985

She hates time make it stop
When did Motley Crew become classic rock?
And when did Ozzy become an actor?
Please make this stop
Stop!
And bring back

Springstein, Madonna
Way before Nirvana
There was U2 and Blondie
And music still on MTV
Her two kids in high school
They tell her that she’s uncool
But she's still preoccupied
With 1985

It was awful. They just went ahead and did it at first, had all these kids running in and out of the front of the house and it's a busy street right in front of their house! People were parking in our side yard and in our shop driveway. They had these big dogs in the back yard so the kids couldn't play back there, so they played in their front yard, the neighbor's yards on either side and in my side yard across the street!

Then there was a sign up saying they were trying to get a zoning change to start up a business there! Right in our neighborhood! Her neighbor on the side of her (who happens to be my pharmacist) went to the city council meeting and put an end to the whole thing. The lesbians shut down the business and within weeks had moved away.
