The Hobbit Hole XX - And take the hidden paths that run...
The Freeper Hobbit Hole ^

Posted on 03/05/2005 11:51:13 AM PST by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

And take the hidden paths that run...

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

You've got a wider range of music in your background than Jen.

You'll have to educate her once you're there.

*applause*

Both of you played the game nicely.

Gotta get some work done, so don't bother replying. Cuz I'm Already Gone. ;-)

Speaking of the 80's and hair bands/heavy metal.....

Ruthy, did you see that Motley Crue has a new album out? I heard one of the new songs on the radio the other day and it sounded good.

They were just down your way las month. They are supposed to be in Orlando in September.

Speaking of being in Orlando. We're making definite plans for the Disney trip next year. Prolly instead of our beach week.

OK, so I lied. I'm actually still here. *smile*

I haven't heard any of the Crue's new music, but they fell out of my favor with Dr Feelgood and went downhill from there.

I'd love to see them in concert though, if only in the hopes of hearing some of the WAY earlier music.

Now, I'd ~love~ to see Bon Jovi! Even if Jon is a sadly misguided liberal fool.

SuziQ may not be too crazy about Martin Luther though. ;^)

Hey, if the man could write a good hymn, far be it from me to diss him! ;o)

Okay, gadget question time...

Wife is interested in something "Palm Pilot-ish" to mainly keep track of her schedule and email.

Got recommendations on the low-spendy end of something? She don't need the bells and whistles, just the basics.

1) Keep schedule
2) Make notes
3) Check email

I don't own one, but I can ask SSQ. We got one for Joseph for school, and it has helped him keep track of assignments, etc, but I don't remember which brand it was.

I don't remember the exact story. But there was some ecumenical service where they sang "A Mighty Fortress."

Following that one of the leaders apologized to a nun that was there. She responded "If the Lord loved Martin Luther, why shouldn't we?"

Every time you try to walk away
Something makes you turn around and stay
And I can't tell you why

Ooh, another post has come and gone
Ooh, and the threads keep rushing on
I remember what you told me before you went out on your own:
’sometimes to keep it together, we got to leave it alone.’

So you can get on with your search, baby, and I can get on with mine
And maybe someday we will find, that it wasn’t really wasted time

how come I always miss that stuff?...

btw... theneighborsacrosstheholler's four dogs got out yesterday... paid us a visit... again... we're down one Barred Rock... they're lucky I wasn't here or a few of 'em would be takin' a dirt nap...

mrsnad talked to their missus last nite... they were very apologetic... they're gettin' rid of one, and tightenin' security on the others... they know whut'll happen if'n we catch 'em in the act...
